Best way to mail a painting

I have done a commission and need to mail it from the USA to Australia. It is a full sheet, 22 x 28", acrylic on paper. Have any of you had experience sending a work that size out of the country? Do you send it rolled or flat? Thanks, Kay

If the paint is thin, you could roll it with the paint on the outside. If thick paint I'd send it flat.

That size, on paper, I'd roll it in the widest diameter tube I could find. Paint side out, but with a sheet of glassine or something similar over the top so the paint didn't touch another surface when rolled..

Thank you Greg and Timelady. I am going to PO tomorrow. I was thinking of using tissue paper to protect painting as I roll it. I can't imagine glassine that big. Kay
