Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Paul; Thank you for your nice words! I am with you in the candy store; I love looking at everyone’s sketches too!

Angela; Thanks for the explanation! You can make things look right allright! Checked out your website; looks good!

3) Cute; the babyshoes of my oldest daughter, combined with
4) Cozy; a babytoy of my youngest.
5) Challenge no. 2; The bottle and the drink. Obviously the bottle was sketched before opening it, the glas afterwards…..

Done in my A4 sketchbook and my dummy, with fine-liners.
C&C welcome! Greetings, Hanneke.

Ai, I hope you do get a bit of relaxing time. Ah, sad to forget the wine.

Angela, love the thread and the green paper.

Hanneke, thanks you. I think your landscape, water and boat is just lovely. Great sketch by the storage area with the wooden barrel and wood. Do you have a fireplace or wood stove? Your shoes and toy is precious. The drink and glass look perfect for my taste. Literally and visually.

Paul, we have had some adventurous times. Many years to document. Thanks.

I sketched on the porch with my iPad. Got to playing and stayed over an hour on this. It was done with my finger and the app Brushes.

Number 6, blue - a couple of glasses on the glass table.

Paul, your idea to Google the latte was a good one. I think I will have to look for some of that. Yummy sounding. I didn't think to look it up. My husband says latte in French means you paid too much for your coffee!

Thanks on the digital. It is fun and I was just using the colors I saw, the rug on the cement porch. Worked well.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Greeting everyone. We are back to Bangkok. The retreat was very nice. There was no major breakdown by the kids. I will post some sketches from there later.

Oban: Fantastic lines, esp. in the cozy still life. The Bottega bottle looks great together with the glass. The oak barrel behind the house is awesome. The boat is lovely.

Jo: I like your funky blue glass on the glass table.

Paul: Hello.

Angela: Your blue bottle mixed media is so cool. I love the white dab of reflection.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Jo; Thank you! Your digital art is absolutely great, I like those glasses very much. Yes, we have a fireplace.
Angela; Nice bottle!

Paul and Jo;
as for the latte; there are several options.
1) Pure. Nothing wrong with that.
2) With ice. A cube ore crushed. With crushed ice very nice on a warm evening.
3) In a desert. Put some ice-cream in a bowl. Vanilla f.e. Chocolate can also be used. Combination of the two. Top that with some whipped cream and finish of with a dash of latte....

Won't be doing much more hunting this week. I have an eye on one of the challenges for August in the pen & ink forum and i am going to give that a try.

Greetings! Hanneke.

Ai: hi

Amotwell: Nice bottle... like your mixed media, very nice..

Jo: Sounds like your husband is fluent in French

3 more for me:

3) Bikes ---- pencil ---- the beach seems to have tons of stuff for the hunt..
4) 2 legs --- pencil ---- lots of folks on the beach today, very hot and humid but the water was oh sooooo cool....
5) Car --- pencil --- my car, wasn't on the beach but it got me there... not sure the way I sketched it that it would pass a safety inspection but what can I say....

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

The first part was some flowers from Iris's school ground.

#1 pink
#2 red

#3 orange

The Second part was done at the "BanHomTien" or The house of fragrant candle craft factory and cafe, Rajburi Thailand. This place has a cafe on the hill overlooking the west mountain of Thailand bordering Burma/Mienmar. There are old baby bikes collectible hanging from the cieling of the cafe.

#4 bike -- a three wheel trike.
#5 car -- sub. with a bike with two more training wheels

The left of the cafe was the mountain overlooking Burma (Thailand's west side border country)

#6 an unusual vehicle -- a motorbike with a colorful trunk bed

The next day we took the kid to the Scenery Vintage Farm, kind of like a giant petting zoo farm where the kids can feed the sheep and ride a tractor (the non-moving one).
#7 four leg -- a sheep
#8 cute -- Iris & Lily feeding the sheep
#9 more than 4 leg -- two sheep
#10 two leg -- a lady feeding the two sheep

More scenes from the same country farm

#11 bus

#12 brown -- a horse

#13 calm -- our resort where we stay
#13 a) done with a set of Japanese cheapo store brand hard pastel (Daiso shop... kind of like OneDollar store in the USA.)

#13 b) done with color pencils inside the resort's guest book.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Part of the reason I dropped out of the hunts a year ago (more or less) was because I didn't have time to participate. I love all of your sketches and learn from each, but I am going to try to reserve my comments for things that really jump out at me. If, in turn, you don't want to comment on mine, I certainly understand.

Hanneke, you are too kind! Thanks for the encouragement.

This is probably my last sketch for this hunt.
#4 Purple – mixed media on purple cardstock, 4.5 x 6.5 inches
(Yes, I am getting rid of it. Sadly, it is too small. )
