WDE 31 July, First To Spot, Little Charmer MI
About an hour and half. This was was fun for a first ever pen and watercolor wash. I did a pencil sketch, then outlined with a waterproof marker and lastly added the color wash. The story is the gulls are patiently waiting for the return of the fishing boats for their daily treats. One gull, suddenly changed direction and delighted, spotted the boats coming in.
Loved the photo o the two Japanese flower girls. A pencil sketch, trying to capture her graceful movement. Took me more than two hours though.....kept on correcting the body proportions. I might have a go at a watercolor painting of this.

Noula a watercolor of this charming bridesmaid would be lovely and I think your story and rendition of the gulls is wonderful!

Thanks for painting this weekend. I love your gulls and the story is very apt.I like how you made the odd gull out a little more colourful.
Your flower girl is beautiful and I hope you do find time to paint her in watercolour and please post it if/when you do.

That delighted gull is certainly the star of the show - beautifully done. Super sketch of the bridesmaid - would look great with watercolours.

Nice! Your interpretation of the bridesmaid really retains her charm. As for the gulls, I don't know if anyone else is of the right agegroup/background to remember the Animaniacs (animated tv show from 90s) sketch characters "Goodfeathers", based of course on "Goodfellas" and similar. But you gave the star gull a similar sort of anthropomorphic attitude and now I imagine he wants to know what we're all looking at. Hee.
