Re: August 2012 Watermedia Challenge - Best Buddies
I'll be first and may do more than this one. Thanks Shirl for hosting and providing such excellent refs!
Heeeeerrrrreee's studio kitty Jezebel again, this time stalking a goldfish helplessly swimming oblivious to the evildoer's blue eyed gaze. Size is 15x11 watercolor wet in wet on Kilimanjaro that I drew yesterday and painted. Today I had editing to do as I got her sweet face too dark, so lifted out paint and scrubbed out her top back for the lost edge I really lost! I should've looked at her more closely rather than flying by the seat of my pants and relying on memory (what's that?)
C&C welcome

Very nice Kay. It will be interesting to see if I can convince myself to paint one of those babies. I've been kind of in a lull lately.

Re: August 2012 Watermedia Challenge - Best Buddies
Wonderful subjects Shirl!
This is one I'd already done. It's of my 15year old Jack Russel "Drum".
At 15years he's still a lively, wonderful little dog who enjoys life immensley....his wee tail wags all day.
8in x 11in - Gouache on watercolor paper
C & C's welcome

Re: August 2012 Watermedia Challenge - Best Buddies
Thanks for hosting Shirl and for the cute pics.
Wonderful Jezebel Kay. This is a gorgeous painting - she's NOT evil - just very interested.
Viv - he is one cute little dog - and very well painted.
Hope you don't mind Shirl and Kay but I've included an image of my newly departed little boy Jock. He was already featured in WDE in June and was very popular so I thought I'd put his pic here for those that may not have seen it.
And one I painted of him earlier this year in the gouache forum - now my present avatar. 16 x 16 cm

We don't mind at all, Ros. Welcome. The invitation to add your best buddy was there to be taken used. I remember the photo of Jock in his budda pose, as well as your earlier painting.

He cheers me up and it was such fun to paint him in the WDE. This painting of him is adorable, Ros, so glad you posted it.

Re: August 2012 Watermedia Challenge - Best Buddies
Something led me to call in here this morning and all these beautiful much loved pets make my painting hand itch to get started.
I love your gorgeous Jock Roz and was sorry I did not get to paint him in the WDE but now I get a second chance. Your painting of him is wonderful, He looks well loved, well fed, and very content and looking for mischief if it does not take too much effort.
Your love for your beautiful Drum shines through in this painting Viv, his fur is so realistic.
Kay I love your Jezebel, she has a hunters eyes and such a sweet face. How did you get those whiskers so sharp?

Thanks Christine! I just use a #1 script liner, or rigger brush, never masking fluid.

Kay - Great painting of Jezebel, she's looking intent on stalking her prey. Love the look in her eye!
Christine - Thank you.
Ros - I'm so sorry to hear you've lost Jock. I remember him in the WDE and so many people painted him he had his own Gallery. It's really sad when our loved animal friends leave us. Big hugs for you.

Re: August 2012 Watermedia Challenge - Best Buddies
I was immediately attracted to the subject of this challenge and had a great time with them,
The first lot are ACEO size and are water colour with a bit of white gouache and a touch of black pen done this afternoon
And the next 2 are acrylic the cat is on a5 cartridge paper
The second is done on a piece of cardboard measuring 8 x 8 (the cat on cartridge paper and the cardboard beagle were done at my art group last week when I forgot to take any canvas so I had to make do. I was quite taken with the beagle so I did him again as an ACEO) The beagle reference came from an old WDE contributor unknown.

Very nice Christine. I especially like the closeup of the cat face.
