WDE 28 July Spirit of the Sea MI challenge

I chose the gulls reference but took them out of the shopping center as, wouldn't you know it, Jonathan had skipped off with their only Sears credit card! This really ticked off the others who gathered for a quick meeting once back on the shoreline, as this was not the first time Jonathan had done this to them. The seagull facing east, or to the right, decided enough was enough and they held a quick vote to steal the credit card and go shopping later, and also to take his iPhone away while he slept. While Jonathan was away they nibbled on popcorn and oysters and felt so happy.

Here is the sketch at about 15 minutes on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press watercolor paper:

I used a watersoluble colored pencil plus peach, pale grey, and white Crayola crayons.

After 1 hour using Benjamin Moore latex acrylics:

As far as I got in 2 hours and 10 minutes, so think it may be done. I used watercolor splatters along with white latex acrylic:

C&C welcome

I love it! I was thinking of doing this too - and I am now even more inspired to give it a try. I thought of changing the background too - but I intend to keep the wood they are perched on!

The yellow foreground sets them off really well.

Don't you just love that guy who's looking the other way? I wonder what caught his attention?

Scatterbrained greedy seagulls and credit cards, not a good mix I am thinking. I think Jonathan did the right thing removing it out of harms way.
I really loved this ref as well and want to give it a try in acrylics. I hope it turns out as good as yours.

I love this , beautiful painting of the gulls and a great new environment for them-the sea is less than five minutes as the" gull flies" but they seem to like this little park.Lovely colours in the gulls and the sea.
Wonderful take on the challenge-- its a very likely story .
Well done on both counts and thanks for joining in.

Love your gulls. You used Benjamin Moore house paint? Why not, but curious if Benj Moore has wandered into artists paint. Nothing lasts forever so why not use what's handy. Our little pieces of art don't need to be archival after all.
