Digital Art Program w/Auto Colorizing Function??

I've been "skirting around the edges" of digital art for a couple of years and have a beginner's type question -- Is there digital art software which will take a monochromatic file...say, a .tif or .jpg of a charcoal drawing...and quickly colorize the whole thing according to some sort of "pleasing color combinations" algorithm at the click of a mouse? If something like this exists, I'd like to put it thru its paces and see what I come up with...

Thanks.

StudioArtist v4 has a number of different methods for colorizing a monochromatic image. It is not going to produce a Ted Turner like coloring, but one can map custom palettes and gradients to the source image in a variety of ways. You might find what you are looking for is possible.

Re: Digital Art Program w/Auto Colorizing Function??

I think what might serve you better is not so much the program because any paint program will do. What I think is that if you start thinking in layers, where you create a background color wash then overlay your sketches the colors will have the same sketchy moodiness as the b&w does.
Think about how a cartoonist works with acetate layers
I see a R.Crumb style influence in some of your work, yea or nay?
BTW a free program that's as good as photoshop is GIMP Try a google search
Just a different POV, hope it helps. Wyndham
