Charcoal Illustration

I read a George MacDonald book when I was 9, and ever since I've wanted to draw the long legged cat creature that comes in the middle of the night to take the princess for a ride. I finally did it today!

I'm trying to break into childrens' book illustrating; so any comments or critiques are very welcome!

Thank you,
Kim

Thumbs up Re: Charcoal Illustration

Wow...the cat is awesome!!! Overall I think your creation is splendid!!!

However, my suggestion would be to make them brighter and more colorful if you are aiming at kids. Kids seem to prefer finer and neater lines to the more mature style you have. Charcoal and paint I think appeals more to adults as grown-ups do not bother with finer details.

Keep those creations coming!!!
