Paintings from Lake Norris, TN

Here are a few paintings from this week- this lake is an hour north of Knoxville, TN, USA:

Lake Norris. Lots of boats going by changing the water constantly, a few boats with big stereos parked right in front of me for an hour..... challenging to stay focused! 12x16 oil.

View of Lake Norris from deck of our vacation rental, morning, sky changing quickly. 9x12 oil.

Alley Mill, a gris mill. 12x16 oil on linen on plywood.

Critique and comments welcome.

Nice paintings.

The Gris Mill and the surrounding forest would seem an especially difficult choice of subject to me. You pull it off beautifully.

All of them are really nice. I like the way you handled the forests in all of them. I've been struggling with a piece with heavy forest background and you've given me some ideas. Thanks!

I just push the paint around while the painting pushes me.

Thanks. Indeed, it was challenging subject matter, there is so much detail, what to leave out? My wife talked me into doing a 12x16 instead of a 9x12.... There was rain threatening as I painted, but it didn't rain til' I finished.

Glad I could be of some help! Less is more when it comes to forests!

Very nice. I like them all. As stated above you handled the dense forest very well and I also learned something too...Thanks for sharing.
