Re: Leningrad school painters

This is a wonderful resource Antonin. These are well worth studying and I particularly like how the majority of the art shows us a slice of life that has now gone.....

Thank you

Re: Leningrad school painters

I really enjoyed these, especially the 4th picture by Alexander Semionov with all the color and motion.

Re: Leningrad school painters

Thanks Antonin,

I was surprised to find this book at my local library the other day "Russian Impressionism"

http://www.amazon.com/Russian-Impres.../dp/0810967146

Very cool, very thick and heavy, lots of pix, and very expensive on Amazon.

You can see where Bato Dugarzhapov is coming from.

Re: Leningrad school painters

I think what I enjoy is the texture of the paint and palette knife strokes, the light... oh that glow... and the essentials and only those... YUM!

Re: Leningrad school painters

Is that first image a young naked girl?

I love that last one, the feeling is so strong and alive that I get from that one.
How neat that those van gogh strokes in the tree top are echoed in the foreground snow.
