Ahh I'm not the only one scribbling, nice set of drawings you're really making these jump off of the page with the strong contrasts.

Love the energy of the quick ones and the interest that the brush marks add to the third one Rob. Are the painted ones gouache or acrylic?

Re: Still Scribbling in London

This is certainly life sessions without a net- no erasing!
You have done a great job with the brush here, Rob- I agree the mid-tone is really working for you.

Thanks all! @ Nathan I am using an odd mixture of black watercolour and 2 premixed acrylic whites. I mix them first because the effect on the toned paper is dramatically different depending on dilution so I mix a pot of the thin white first so I can be confident how it will dry. I might try the same thing with the black giving 4 tones plus paper. I am sticking with the no drawing first, it makes me consider the placement of each mark in relation to the others whereas with predrawing I tend to just follow the lines.

Rob --
this is really great stuff! So full of an energy and sureness!
I also really love how you have used the black and white ink and paint on the grey paper! (Canson?)
I'm sure you were energized doing those, 'without a net' as Bethany puts it, one after another. It's always a real high when it works, eh!
These are way more than mere 'scribbles from London' -- great work, really good proportions, too!
