Unhappy Plant, apple & vase

Thanks for looking... Iam just plodding along, making mistakes, and trying to learn something from them... Not to happy with this one... I think I kind of rushed this one along just to have something to post... CC welcome...

Dennis...I see what you mean, one half is very well done...the other a bit confusing to me, the pot looks as if it has two different plants in it.The round leaved one...is very well done, but the long leaved looks too dark, given that there is no indication of strong light or shade differences... And, given that it hasn't died, is rather a strange colour for something living....unless of course it is one of those hybrid plants the designers love, with nearly black leaves! Whichever it is...you are very welcome to have a go at adjusting it and post it again in this thread....I can always rename it as a WIP!

Hi Dennis,

You set yourself quite a task with the elipses in this one, and have managed them pretty well.

I agree with Deirdre about the leaves. What I would like to encourage you to do is make more of the dark and light (chiaroscuro). Make the darks in the background darker and the lights much lighter towards the front which I think is the source of the light.

I wouldn't be as down about this as you seem to be, it's got a lot going for it!
