Woodpecker

Hello everybody,

I started a new project, a woodpecker. In pencil, and because I'm drawing on coloured paper, I sometimes use a graphitint white pencil.

Here are the first steps:

The size of this drawing is A4. (The rest of the body will follow. )

Greetings!

Re: Woodpecker

Awww, he's cute. We've got one of these little guys in our neighborhood. He likes to hammer away at the trees in the evening. I guess he's not a morning critter either. Looking forward to seeing this progress!

Re: Woodpecker

You are capturing the slightly scruffy appearance of the Woodpecker's plumage very well.

Re: Woodpecker

Nicely done, Tonian. El pajaro capintero or " the carpenter bird" as we call them here, looks great!

Wow! That's just gorgeous! The texture on the feathers is really impressive.

Wow, he's beautiful. You know, in the class I'm taking with Mike Sibley over on Drawspace.com, we had to draw a feather. A single feather. I found it incredibly difficult (of course, I'm still learning to draw, not very good at it yet, so that's to be expected), and here you've put together so many of them so beautifully. They look like they'd be so soft to touch, if the bird wouldn't peck my hand first!

Now, speaking of my class, I need to get back to my final drawing. Due way too soon, and I'm not nearly far enough along with it yet...
