GS -- Just love your Waychiniup Inlet and Log Cabin drawings. Beautifully done.

vbuben -- Welcome to the P&I Project. Your Kestrel is beautifully done, as is the foot. Hope to see more from you in August.

Natashya -- Your Log Cabin and Frangipanis are extremely well done -- thankyou so much for posting.

Mario -- Just LOVE your Log Cabin, Kestrel and Portrait. They are all beautifully done, and I hope we will see drawings from you in the August Project.

Blah -- You are very welcome. I love selecting the Images each month and take the selections really seriously. Thankyou for all of your wonderful drawings.

Val.

Re: Monthly PEN & INK Project -- July, 2012.

I'm late.
And I didn't finish.
But it was enjoyable - I'm new to pen and ink (really want to develop a good cross hatching technique) and I find it very meditative.

edit: to say, any pointers with cross hatching much appreciated. critique also welcome - i'm bullet proof so don't worry about hurting my feelings.

Re: Monthly PEN & INK Project -- July, 2012.

Antonius, that's a beautiful picture! well rendered!

You are right about the process being meditative! That's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this medium.

One general suggestion for hatching is.. hatch in a manner that defines the surface by allowing your strokes flow with the direction of the surface planes. You must have heard of the term 'contour drawing'. I think hatching evolves a lot from that idea.

But other than that, I guess its best to discover it by doing more and more often . its a journey.. and you have rightly identified the purpose.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.. and in this Monthly! I need to come more often too!
