Re: Scavenger Hunt #274 - June 30 - July 8

Joan I'm glad you got to do a few. Probably more than i will do. I'm still doing the EDiJuly and the 75 days in pen and ink. I'm having a hard time keeping up with those. The 75 day one is causing me to struggle. I'm a graphite girl thru and thru.

I take it you were at the hair salon yesterday. So was I.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #274 - June 30 - July 8

Finally made it back to Artwork from Life.

J thanks for hosting. I have honey in my tea every day for breakfast, and later in the day too. Lovely painting of the honey jar.

Carol - such a terrible tragedy these fires bring to so many people. AZ has annual fires in the northern part. My sympathies go out to all those who have been affected by the fires. I am glad that you were spared.

Paul - the beach scene reminds me of all the years we spent the 4th at the beach - love it. Nice paintings.

Joan - hope you are having fun at the wedding - you are a dedicated artist - lovely packet and the rest of the drawing as well.

Irwin - nice design

Had to split up my drawings as I used too big of a piece of paper so I got a bit of duplication on parts.

Happy Fourth of July Everyone

Jeanne: Thanks... My wife would have liked your husband.... she has hundreds of keys all tied together... on one has any idea what the keys go to.. I tried tossing them out one year.... hmmmm didn't work... Has to be a childhood thing.......

Joan: Super sketches.... you must have a paintbrush and pen permanently attached to your arm.... like all your sketches but particularly like the t-shirt, onion and love that pocket....

Tresgatos (three kitty cats): Thanks... Awesome sketches love the bananas in the basket.....

Hope to get a few more in later.... looks like rain here for most of the day.....

2 more sketches

Oh I love that marble rolling . I have a wooden one my husband made in wood shop in school. I never use it but guess it would make a good weapon if needed.

You both did nice socks. Nice basket with the bananas and nice thumb.

Happy Independence Day!! Our daughter, Joanna, has her birthday today so we will be in Austin to see her. We will be celebrating here on Saturday as our town has fireworks that day so the Austin Symphony Band can come, they are in Austin tonight.

Irwin, sadly we won't be to your side of Canada. We would so like to get back there, but it is soooooo far. We will be up around Nelson and Cranbook in BC. Weather should be great about the end of August. One year we were snowed on as we left Canada in Idaho. So we go prepared. Ha. Thanks for watching out for us, though. : ) I bet your scorcher is 80 - 85, eh? Ours is 92 and expected to go to near 100.

"J", your honey makes me want to eat some and I hardly ever eat sweets for breakfast. Your weapon remark made me laugh, probably will never see my rolling pin the same way again!

Paul, you are getting so good with the watercolors. I'm impressed. Are you liking them? Cool beach scene. Wow on the box. Wish we would get some of your rain.

Joan, you post even when you are busy. I am amazed. Love the bag. Well, all of them. Cute lady at the salon.

Barbara, lovely rolling pin and basket. Beautiful.

I did a couple on Canada Day and yesterday. First two in the brown paper sketchbook with the Prismacolor Pemier 08 and the other two on my iPad with Brushes. All freehand and quickly. Not using "undo" on the iPad except where I accidently touched and made a swath across the page. Ha. I do change the texture and opacity of the brushes.

Number 1, bird - the cardinal is probably more from my mind than seeing him. They move too fast.

Number 2, picket fence - none near here so our iron fence/rail.

Number 3, limb - one of the pine limbs over the storage shed.

Number 4, shrubbery - none around here so used the vines growing on the fence.

Hey Jo. I'm so impressed with your digis. I have never tried to do any. I spend all my IPad time reading all the free Kindle books. Saves me a bundle on paperbacks.

Great job on the sketches everyone!!! We are in Roanoke, Virginia with about 6 more hours to drive tomorrow. I'm headed to the lobby of the hotel to sketch something for the 75 Days project. My pen is ready in my hand. lol See you all soon!

The main thing I enjoy about this forum is the use of different techniques and the choices for what to draw based on the lists

Here's my first choice for "bird" which is really a beautiful, hand-painted candle I couldn't bear to light.

Ai & Eyepaint: thanks......

Jo: Thanks... nice digital and pencil sketches..... those digital sketches are looking real good, very nice. The tree limb and shrubbery are awesome.... I am liking the water color but do find them a bit difficult to change.. Looks like I should know what I am doing before I start ( that's not going to happen any time soon) because I cant change it very well once I get started

1 more
9) Banana --- water color --- I'm going to just keep on plugging

Jo - You're giving me another reason to consider drawing software, although that would mean getting an iTablet
Paul - Your watercolor sketches are really good. I've been hesitating trying it until I get much better at sketching in graphite. Pencil drawings are so much easier to revise!

Here's several more sketches. As usual, I find proportion and foreshortening quite challenging.

Carole: Missed your candle somehow when I was in last, not sure how I did that.... That candle sketch is very nice and your thumb and lock are super.... just jump in with color... like folks say "there is never a good time to start" so you might as well start now....

Well, hopefully I can get a few more done before the next hunt.. I keep getting distracted.....
