Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: JULY 2012

Hi Susan and welcome to the Plant Parade.
You can use the ref photos or your own as long as it's the subject for this month, which of course is - "Waterlilies". And you can do as many paintings of waterlilies as you have time for. Enjoy!

Well guys it's 24th here today in NZ so we are counting down until tomorrow!
Sling paint people - only 1 day to go!!!!!

Good on yer Susan for jumping in here too
Yes, Viv's explained it - thanks Viv

I finished mine today but the scan is picking up all the gloss medium isolation coat, so I'll try a photo tomorrow.

As we did w'lilies over in Acrylics too this month, I'll ad the link for that thread after the reveal date here and then add this forum's link over there too. Sounds complicated but 'tisn't ............ almost 24th here

Well, I thought mine was ALMOST done, and put a glaze on it....there went all of my shading, and I have one dark blob....lolol The glaze was lighter than all the colors already on it...not quite sure what happened...sigh...but onward and something...lol

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: JULY 2012

Good morning all! It's Wednesday 25th July here in NZ so lets go for it;

I've done 2, both of them are - 8" x 11" and are Atelier Interactive Acrylics -on watercolor paper.
I'm still getting used to using the Interactives and now see lots of things I should have done better, but anyhow here goes;

My second one, which I think, turned out better than the first

C & C's welcome

Beautiful and vivid colors, Viv! I love the boldness of both of them and must try that medium.

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: JULY 2012

They're gorgeous Viv - full of light ........ and you seem to have learnt how to handle the Inters too - nice work on both.

I'm posting mine now cos it's not far from midnight and tomorrow could be difficult.
Sorry about the glare - tried scanning and photo'ing but the gloss medium messes with the light. The darks are actually darker/richer than the photo allows

5" square, deep sided canvas, reg. acrylics.

Maureen and Viv - yours are gorgeous. So glad I had already "finished" mine because if I waited until I saw yours I would never have begun mine.

8x10" wc flower pod/seeds

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: JULY 2012

Hi EP!! Nice to 'see' you again! This is so your style...and you had the guts to do the seed pod!! they are so striking and unusual, but not exactly the usual subject matter...tho' they would make a pretty cool abstract....hmmmm....that's an idea!

Not that I am ready...but is this a bit like "it's five o'clock somewhere"? lol having a late start, I am pushing it. I am currently in a disagreement with a friend, over the bg on one, as I think all three lilies should have a similar bg...but right now there is one that is so glaringly not part of the group....lol...not that that is important, to anyone but me...

Can't wait to see what everyone else has done!

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: JULY 2012

Good morning everyone

Viv, both are beautifully done... gorgeous colours.... yes full of light and I like how you handle the negative space on the first painting too.

Maureen, a lovely one... I always love how you paint/draw your lively/shapes of your petals. (mine were always stiff)

EP, somehow was expecting this pod from you, hope you remember I did mentioned it to you that I had a clear image of an interesting lotus pod several years ago.
This is lovely...interesting work and palette.

Welcome to post your work everyone

Sorry, mine is still not done yet, didn't have time to finish it but will continue with it right away.

Edit: Welcome Susan and webLes looking forward for your works too.

Hi Kay see you soon too.
