Petunia Patch

15x22 watercolor on Italia acquerello 140 lb cold press finished today. Using one of many petunia photos taken in April during our plein air garden trips, this one was hard to get going as it is a light/midtone with not that many darks. I might have to go back in and glaze here and there but for the most part this daily painting is done. It is full of discreet abstract shapes of wilted blooms and twisted leaves if you look closely. We're still in triple digit heat (104 F today) so although it was wet in wet, really turned out dry on dry, so very hard to manage the washes
C&C welcome

Re: Petunia Patch

I really like this. You've captured the delicate beauty of the petunia, one of my favorites. This Texas heat has me wilted for sure. Stay cool.

I like the reds in it. It was probably hard to keep yourself from being red out there in the heat. Hope things cool down in Texas.
