Hi Smudger! Isn't cyberspace funny...you and Jackie are up early in Londontown and I'm burning the midnite oil packing up my studio here in California.

I'm so excited because I was just notified that I won the Ebay auction on both paintings I bid on by CarlyArt, our very own CH Clements! Before I frame them for my new living room, I plan to study them to death! I love her style.

Packing is hard work and I'm so tired. Trying to pack my studio is really hard because I have several paintings in progress and I keep wanting to sit down and play. I dropped my Artbin box of 132 Rembrant pastels and they spilled all over. What a mess! Well I have lots of little pieces to work with now...

We are almost done packing up and then we are going to relax at our son's house for a week before the move to the new place. Then we get to do the whole thing in reverse...sigh! I'm really looking forward to August, when this whole adventure will be at an end and I can relax and get back to some serious painting.

Hope it's a beautiful day for everyone!

It's raining here......it's very damp and hazy. not nice. Am supposed to read today, but am very, very tempted to start another painting after reading Scott Burdick's demo's just now.

well, we're all waiting in silence for your stories from the other side of the pond! Is everything really bigger and grander and more extreme? Do they really all eat burgers and do they eat pancakes for breakfast? Have you seen the gap from the twin towers? What's the difference between Europeans and Americans?

Well, that should keep you chatting for a bit......

Started painting btw....could not resist.....going quite well, I must say!

Good morning! It's sunny here and will be hot, I can count on that anyway! The week-end is supposed to be rainy and we were supposed to go out Sat. on a casino boat, but don't want to if it's yucky weather. The idea of sitting on deck in the rain isn't that appealing and I don't gamble.

I think I remember Dawn saying she was going away and specifically she was going through a big tunnel!

This is for Mo - lucky bamboo:

Actually, Mikki, you should get some for your new house. Commiserating on the packing duty, hoping to do the same soon. Lucky that you can rest up at your sons house in between though.

What about NY then?
We had a superb time but didn't get to do half the things i wanted to, there was just so much going on we run out of time.
I did however get to go to the Blue Note an ambition of mine for a long time and bought some Unisons and some art spectrum pastels in Pearl Paint (a must for all visiting artists) Mrs smudge come back with 4 new pairs of shoes!! she really likes the shopping in NY... anyway here's some of our favourite things about NY

The Architecture

The Park

The Deserts

The Romance (excuse the very English legs)

And the street artists

We're now saving for a longer stay so i can get to see all the galleries

MMmm lets see...

Is everything really bigger and grander and more extreme?
Yes especially the size of the meals

Do they really all eat burgers and do they eat pancakes for breakfast?
Yes but not Burgers as we know them theirs have meat in them Mrs smudge had 4 huge pancakes smothered in hot maple syrup for her breakfast on the first morning!!!!

Have you seen the gap from the twin towers?
No we didn't... we did get close and that was emotional enough, there are reminders of 911 everywhere

What's the difference between Europeans and Americans?
Besides the accent the only difference that i could see is that they have a passion for life, great self belief and a pride in their communities that we don't even come close to

Oh and the maddest Taxi drivers in the world

Great pix Smudger! There is nothing like NY cheesecake! But we don't all eat burgers and pancakes!

Did you get to any museums, see any plays? There is always so much to do in NYC that you have to go back another time. When we lived in CT, NYC was so accessible and now I really miss it. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
