Desert Garden

It was a little too warm to go stand outside in the sun last weekend so I sorted through some small studies I did during my last trip to Southern Utah and decided to try bigger version of one of them. Hopefully it will cool back down again next weekend!

Re: Desert Garden

Wow Randy, there's a lot to like in this one. The trees in are very well done and the yellow in the foreground really gives the painting warmth. I also like the transition from warm to cool colors which gives a great sense of depth. I admire your ability to control the oils like you do, nice work!

Re: Desert Garden

This is a very beautiful landscape and setting! I love the composition too. I am finding my eye stays on the rock formations. I think peppering in some lavender/purple flowers in the foreground would keep the eye moving and bring more focus to the foreground and path, as well as providing more cool to the overall balance.

Very nice painterly technique too!

Rob, you're too kind.

Good suggestions, song bird. Thanks. I'm still tweaking this...

Randy-
You take me down the path, then, get me lost in this one ... And that's a good thing!

Nice idea, but very few blue wild flowers in that part of the world! Yellow pretty much rules, we call them ADYF - another darn yellow flower.

Great comp and rocks. The chamisa (or brittlebush?) are great too.
