Mountain Mama

This image was cropped from a view of the entire house to emphasize the contents of the porch, and "Mama" working in the kitchen. It's a bit grainy from the enlargement, but it shows a typical rural West Virginia scene...lots of interesting porch "furniture" there. I hadn't even noticed the woman in the window until I saw the print... was quite a nice surprise.

What an interesting picture, Phyllis. Is it normal to have a fridge out on the porch like that? And is that an old treadle organ I spy. The last time I saw one of these was a a child in Chapel.

You really have captured the atmosphere of the place and the old woman in the window is a wonderful bonus. Well Done Indeed.

Definitely has an appalachian feel to it! I love driving in the mid eastern states-mtns. This is a very nice shot , I think the graininess works anyway!
Welcome to the WC Darkroom. I look forward t hearing more from you and see more of your pics. Especially if they are more from the mtns of West Virginia-I'd live there if I could!

Love the wavy roof and porch, and I agree it has great atmosphere.
And yes Bobby, it is normal ~ around here they're usually just for beer!

Welcome to WC
I think the shot evokes a place very well. Has a great journalistic style

Interesting shot. I couldn't see the woman until I brightened it in PSP but I think that's a problem with my monitor.

Rob - not unusual to see a fridge on the verandah in Australia either.
