Inktense Lillies

This one is cross posted from June's Plant Parade, in the Floral Forum

The Challenge for June was to paint a Cubist Lily. I'm not an abstract artist but I thought I'd give it a go, and after I'd spent some time trying to come up with a design I liked, I really ejoyed adding the color.

My thinking was to use Intense Pencils so I could control the color better when I carefully washed them. They worked a treat, in fact I got so carried away applying color that I made everything too bright, but managed to lift some of it off, so I wouldn't blind people when they looked at it! Inktense will not lift off completely as you maybe can see at the top of the page..the two differenty types of blue..an effect which I quite like.

9in x 12in - Inktense Pencils (washed) on watercolor paper

You can probably see that it's not really "Cubist" at all but I did mange to get it to look a little abstract.

C & C's welcome

I really like all the hard work you did on this one, Viv, for the challenge and first saw it there. Those blues really set off the center of interest lily and it is an excellent composition.

Thank you so much Kay. Try to get the composition right was a big problem with this being abstract, but I'm glad I managed it.

WoW! You really got the intense pencils working better than I ever could. Great job!
