Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
I seem to have lost my muse of late. Just can't seem to make anything work so I thought I would post this one that I did a few weeks ago and posted in Acrylics and Landscapes forums. Acrylics on 9x12 matboard. Thanks for looking. Cindy

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Definitely water themed work! What an interesting painting of water slowing falling down each rocky ledge to the next. Your foreground is a great color and not the usual blue sky reflected into it. The splashes are well done in white tones. All in all, a very nice one, Cindy!

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Thanks Kay. The reference photo is from another sight. Colors used are pretty close to the photo, maybe just a little darker. My first attempt at translucent water.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Cindy, good waterfall. I could relate to the water droplets altogether.
Here's a quick sketch.
Pelikan pan watercolor and Chinee brush and ink, added Bruyzneel colored pencil.
Pentalic 70 lb sketchbook 5.5 x 8 inch

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Sandra, you did the duck and koi, and I'm enjoying the look in the duck's eye like he's sure watching his back! It's super watercolor plus ink!

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Kay - Hi there, I haven't posted here for a while, sorry. But I will try to get one of the water themed paintings done. I do have a Inktense painting coming up to post, after the Plant Parade's "reveal" day 25th.
Cem - Hi there. Beautiful waterfall painting!!! You've made a great job of the water.
Hi Sandra - Love it! It has a real Chinese Art feel to it.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
I did this 15x22 watercolor last week or so and keep forgetting to post it here; if I find time will do one of the posted refs. I was trying to do a self portrait here in this imaginary scene.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Kay - Beautiful painting, full of atmosphere and Oh yay, Summer in the sun! A distant memory for us in the Southern Hemisphere as it will be Mid-Winters Day here next week. But your lovely painting makes me dream of Summer at the beach and the pool.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Here is a watercolour of youngsters playing around the rockpools in a gorge at Beechworth, NE Victoria. It"s far too cold now for such fun --- we'll have to wait for another 3 or 4 mths !
Painted on Arches Rough 300gsm quarter sheet.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
A lovely bright, happy painting. Youve handled the recession and the water, really well and I love all the busy children in the foreground.
Reminds me of Summer, which is a far distant memory for us too in NZ.

Re: JUNE CHALLENGE: Splash In!
Wow, Geoff, there sure is a lot of activity going on with this one from the multilevel far background, background, middle ground, and foreground to the wonderful figures playing within its boundaries. Just a delightful work!
Cindy, I'm enjoying the feel of the cool water dripping down the rocks and can imagine the sound it makes. Excellent scene!
