Talking Today I Climbed a Hill :)

Behind the village of Evanton is a hill known as Cnoc Fyrish. On the summit, 1486 feet, is the Fyrish monument. It was erected in 1783 by Sir Hector Munro of Novar and commemorates his victory in the capture of Negapatam in India. The monument is a replica of the gates of that city. Today I was persuaded to walk to the top with some Australian visitors. It's only the third time I've bothered to take the walk. Would you beleive the last two times I went up only to find my camera batteries were flat and today the batteries were fine but it was raining. Oh well, It's a good excuse to go up again some time

Fyrish Monument

Another View - This was was taken during a shower so it turned out a little bit soft focus. I thought it lent itself to being a sepia toned. If you disagree please share your thoughts. Should I have just trashed it?

My House A lousy photo due to the rain but I thought I'd show you my house as seen fully zoomed in from the top of the hill.

A flower - Nothing to do with the above. I'm including it in the hope that someone know what it is. Can't seem to find it in any of my books. It's growing in my garden.

Thanks Ruth - that certainly looks like it. I've grown other species of campanula but didn't even think of that.

Woah!

Very nice shots Alan. The first one is beautiful, a bit centered, but it don't really hurt it. The clouds made for a very nice sky and mood to an almost erie setting. You did manage to get some great color though, despite the flat light.

I wouldn't toss the sepia, perhaps you could impose one of your aussie friends photos in front of it..........would make a great background.

Neat panoramic perspective from the mount. Beautiful rural countrside, can't wait to go on holiday to New England. Lush green hills. Love to see where others live. What town is that?

I actually like the second image(sepia) better-it is more artistic! The first is more documentary! I love the shot of your house nice that you're not right in the midst of all that! I love the campanula-mine died. We also call them campabella, but I don't know if that's a right common name or not!

Neat shots, Alan. Learning more from you with every shot. You certainly live in a very pretty spot - I'm jealous.

I love the view of your town on the water, that's really pretty. Can I come visit?

Alan I really like that first photo. I love the composition and color. Those little white flowers in the foreground make it for me.

Beautiful - this is one I would hang in my living room.

Amen! Miss Mouse. I too love the little white flowers. At first they looked like polka dots. So cute!!!!!!! What beautiful country. A piece of heaven. The oil rig is so out of place for such a beautiful area. I am sure it brings $$ to the community, though. Thanks for showing us your house!!!!!! LOL!

Rain or not, these are lovely to say the least. NO! I would NOT trash that second shot...too many possibilities.

You most definitely live in one heck of a gorgeous place! And as for the oil rig in the bay, ...hey! It could be a Super Max (maximum security) prison! (Which is what you'd see if I could take an arial shot of my house from that distance. )

VERY NICE, Alan!
