Acylic Painting number.. 6 ? Head study..

I may work on this more as there is much not finished..

I don't know if I am coming to grips with acrylics but I like to pull them out to push my observation - if I don't mix it - it won't be right! Also it's nice to clean with a bit of soap and be done! ( and, I have a new plastic painting!! )

I apologize for not being a good member of the community here but I do try to stop in every once in a while ( abandoning my post in portraits and figures!)..

From a photo reference on canva-paper with old holland acrylics and some swiss cad green (Lascaux) that is nice in making skin shadows ! ( more like a viridian to me than cad green - but that's oil knowledge talking).. About 9 x 11 and I spent about 4 hours on this I think..

And thank you for looking!

Absolutely beautiful, Kevin. This would be the way I would like to paint portraits - economic brushstrokes, great lighting and an 'aliveness'.
You are a real artist. Thanks for sharing. It was a pleasure to see this work.

Chammi, thank you! I think you made my day (week, etc.,). - I try and I appreciate your thought very much! ( But set you sites higher!!)..

Gaykir - thank you - I think the brevity comes from panic in getting the paint down before it's onto "quick-dry" mode!

Some updates that will likely be invisible -ish..

Great portrait Kevin I know youre expert about portraits and figure but IMHO it seems to me her right eye is a bit bigger than the other

More work..

@JTMathis - thank you
@libelle - cheers !
@Violetta - well - I like exploring all mediums! this began as a watercolor but I figured out that this paper is NOT conducive to WC so.. Acrylic!
@siberart - thank you!
@ranunkel - cheers and thanks!
@skappy - I don't know if I am expert at anything - her right eye is bigger - you are correct (IYHO)..

Among many small fixes ( mouth, chin, lights, nose /nostrils, neck her right eye was too high up and had to be moved down.. the lines are better now.. so much for alla prima! - kw

Lovely to see your painting Kevin. The wonderful thing about acrylics is...there are no rules. Unlike oils, you can glaze anytime you like, mix optically or...if you are really fast (have a plant sprayer to hand to keep the air humid) paint wet into wet Have fun

My news is, not only did I get this painting into the Royal Society Of Portrait Painters Exhibition in London, but it sold

My next project involves some of the salsa dancers I know. Will post when I have something to show
