Great Blue Heron for Sunny

Hey Sunny,

Here's the closeup that you didn't get.

The background was completely white and washed out, but the exposure of his face was anything but. I took the liberty of adding some color to the background. A little levels control and a tad of saturation.

I too can't get enough of these guys. What I like about this one is that he doesn't look so tattered, some of their beaks really look rough.

Ozzie-what camera are you using and what does the VR after the lens mean?

Sunny I'm using the Nikon DSLR D100 that I bought last August. The VR stands for Vibration Resistance/reduction...something like that. It has a built in system to help you reduce the effects of movement when shooting, supposedly allowing you to shoot 3 stops slower and still have crisp images over a lens without it. Canon also has a similar lens system, perhaps they were the 1st to come up with this technology.

All I know is I love the 80-400, especially the power of the 400!! Allows me to get shots of skittish critters from afar.
