Spitfires Buried in Their Original Crates Discovered in Burma

Maybe you've heard this story already, but I thought it was awesome!

British farmer David Cundall has located around 20 Spitfires shipped to an RAF base in Burma just weeks before the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When the war ended, they were buried, still sealed in their packing crates.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could be restored to flying status.

Re: Spitfires Buried in Their Original Crates Discovered in Burma

i'm still sceptical on this story there is the possibility as it did go on , but that amount of brand new unused spitfires burried ?? it would have been a huge asset to just burry

there is no doubt unserviceable aircraft and spares were dumped and burried

plus the physical evidence is very scant if indeed any

the recent desert p40 find is the most intresting find recently until i see actual physical proof these aircraft do actualy exist

also think of the implications if that many good condition ones are found values will go down over night ( but to be fair not by a lot !! ) i still won't be able to afford one !!
