Re: Expressiver Realismus WMO - BILDER/PICTURES

Once again you created an interesting set of works. They all appeal to me, each in it's own way.
hamburger- they way you loaded the edge of the brush in yellow caught my eye and gives this an outdoor sunshine feeling. It might be said the railing cuts the painting in half, but then again, so does the title- which do I want to do ? eat or go sailing?

Two- again, composition cut in half by the hill, raising the heads above the hill would help this, but aside from that I like the feeling of happiness these two impart., a cheerful piece of art

Three- clever way you kept repeating the elements in 3's. I suspect this painting is much better IRL, seems a bit crowded when shrunk down to computer monitor. High energy brush strokes give a sense of youthful enthusiasm

Italy- a celebration of all is good and beautiful, architecture, atmosphere, peace and joy of good food. I can hear a Verdi opera in the background

France- romantic but realistic enough to portray the feeling. The center of the foreground seems a bit too soft and mushy, being the closest thing to our eye it might appear sharper, ar at least add just a few sharper edges here and there

Riviera- the best of them all, sense of a haze from the ocean, cheerful place, a sense of falling in love. Definitely one of your best in this style.

Thanx 4 posting these, you are quite a prolific and accomplished painter.

life is good

greg

Thxs again Greg/birdhs!

You have an eye for the detail

TwoInTheField -> you have right, with the hill under the heads ! But then would the sky 'smaller' or the peoplebody bigger!?! And i loved that sky with its colours. So is - i think - more 'life' in it or 'sportifity'/'more sports' ... ;-)

Hamburg -> THIS is my lovely. I'm so sad, that all of it i photograph is not like in real when Sun/Light shine on it ... -> then it glows :-( &

AND YES - Life is GOOD!!!!!

Lightbulb Re: Expressiver Realismus WMO - BILDER/PICTURES

Some tips for WMO-"Mediums"

'Normal' is 50:50 Solvent & Oil - OMS & LinseedOil.
In WMO's Water or better(!) Artisan Thinner & Oil.
For impasto & more creamy [for ALL brands] - COBRA PaintingPaste !!!

Maybe some helps or at least a couple of tips ...

I mix in any color always some white *- usually titanium as well as some zinc white!

Also i mix in each color one of my mediums CREAMY - either "CREAMY" and/or "CREAMYcobra".
Then I give a lot of white middle "CREAMY +" & if I want to have more of that or 'buttery' then I gave extra/more CobraPaste.
And mix gently to *colors this WhiteMelange OR to do this when i paint AllaPrima & PleinAir with a brush and paint on the canvas ...

HERE MY RECIPES - for own Mediums:
========================
• "CREAMY" - into a vessel per unit:
7 Artisan Linseed Oil, 4 Lukas Stand Oil, 1.5-2 Artisan Thinner, 1-1.5 Artisan FastDrying, 3-5 Artisan PaintingMedium, 1 Artisan ImpastoGel
===>>> PastosLiquid * [FirstLayer or for 'dilution']

• "CREAMYcobra" - also per unit of vessel:
14 Artisan Linseed Oil, 8 Lukas Stand Oil, 2-3 Artisan Thinner, 2-3 Artisan FastDrying , 6-10 Artisan PaintingMedium, 2-3 Artisan ImpastoGel & 2-4 CobraPaste
===>>> PastosButter * [medium-fast drying]

• "CREAMY +" - units per vessel:
20 Artisan PaintingMedium, 10 Artisan Stand Oil, 7 Lukas Stand Oil, 10 CobraPaste, 3 Artisan FastDrying, 5 Artisan ImpastoGel
===>>> PastosHoneyWax * [upper layer, or 'just' AllaPrima & dries quickly - SuperB for PleinAir]

TIP on Talens Cobra paste:
--------------------------------
"Cobra is a colorless PaintingPaste medium that you can mix in all proportions with oil paint. The paste has the same consistency as the Cobra oil paints and can in principle be Described as a water-oil color without pigment."

HERE YOU CAN SEE AGAIN THE RECIPES - but unfortunately only in German:

GOLDENER KÄFIG [Golden Cage]

OIL ON CANVAS 70x80cm
LXV - Mai 2012

This is now again "Expressiver Realismus/expressive realism" (with some impasto - by me is rather more the color expressive and the brush duktus less, but also )

Painted with "Lukas BERLIN" & "W&N Artisan" - also with my mediums CREAMY, CREAMY+

Quote:
I like that you can not recognize right away what it is exactly and everyone sees something different in it...
A friend saw this as the entrance of a church & i see it as a Villa-entrance in the night, what it actually is.

and both are for me a golden cage

This is a "premiere" , I put this picture here first - it also comes later on my homepage (which I update usually only every 3-4 months) - then the photo is better taken & hopefully correct exposed ...
-> You are thus the first ...

From far it's more of a 'carpet stain', still farther away you can see it better - or you squint your eyes (then the contrast is more & better)

Hope you enjoy it [a little ;-)] ...

I love your colors! To me it feels like a gate into a garden that is lit up at night with all these golden colors, very nice!

THXS Poegirl, for looking and your nicely statement ;-) - what you have seen or feels like is also good/possible - this is what i like & find what art is ...

THXS Janet, also for your lovely reply ... - this colour-'harmony' or that strength is 'my' expressive-note [in ExpressiverRealismus/ExpressiveRealism'] ... & i hope i can share more ;-)

I must really say, what i like the most - in every painting or art - is you can see so much different things...
-> for example in this one: " could be the 'iron-forged-gate', if you look longer and/or more accurately, also be a bird-cage - and then the house-entrance in the back is 'locked in' " -> THE GOLDEN CAGE too ... ;-)

I like 'political' scenes where you can see so much others ...
And everyone sees things what is self-concerns or comes from a self ...

Thumbs up Re: Expressiver Realismus WMO - BILDER/PICTURES

NEW MEDIUM - like creamy/wax from Lukas or Cobra [for Artisan or others ...] -> like similar 99.9% of Lukas/Cobra (short & buttery consistency)

• CREAMYwax
=============

• 45ml Artisan LinseedOil
• 7-9g BeesWax ( "Cera Alba" )

I have in a larger pot with two small bowles wax respectively and in the other bowl heated linseed oil - in a water bath! - between 60-70C degrees and always something stirred.

As both heated and melted - I have taught the wax into the bowl of linseed oil, while stirring regularly - this is about 15-20 minutes!*

Now i gave into that :
------------------------
• 3 pcs. Artisan StandOil
• 4 pcs. Cobra PaintingPaste
• 3 pcs. Artisan FastDry
• 3 pcs. Artisan ImpastoGel
• 5 pcs. Artisan PaintingMedium

-> and then merged again stirred a lot - but here already turned off the heat supply and slowly let cool ... this is again about 5 minutes!

Now this mixture or paste into a airtight container or glass, and let set overnight!

SUPERb - if you will, you can dilute it yet with a *little of CREAMY, CREAMYcobra or CREAMY+ (or *LinseedOil, StandOil, ...)

=>>> THIS MIX INTO (Artisan) COLOR ... ;-)

P.S.: the same is also with 'normal' oil or mediums possible !!!
