Terms and definitions

Hi all!

((Im not sure if this should be in the weekly thread or not))
While Im still pluggin away at my flamingo, Im trying to get my notes organized. In them there are some terms Im not familiar with. If you guys could help, I need the definitions and the way/why you would use it . (if that makes sense at all)

?burnishing?
?wash? (think I know what it means but I want to be sure)

(my mind just kinda drew a blank so if I can think of any more Ill post)
