"Cold and Damp"
Hi. I am new to this forum and I thought I would show some of my work here so I could get feedback from other artists.
This in a landscape created with digital medium. I like to work in traditional style while taking advantage of what digital has to offer too. I will be posting some other examples in the next few days.

Hi Gene,
Welcome to WC!
I have been doing computer illustration since 1987 and this is one of the best examples I've ever seen of someone creating a "painting" digitally. There are many, many pieces that are done in a painted fashion but none that have natural color or a traditional painting appearance.
A couple of thoughts on the arrangement...
The one tree breaking the picture plane in the middle of the painting and the post in the foreground emulate each other. My eye goes to the post then to the tree and out of the picture. The footprints or bare spots in the snow lead the eye to the barn. The single post tends to stop the viewer from going into the and staying in the scene. If you keep the post in the painting, I recommend making it a bit taller and add another post to the left of it between the barn and the edge of the left side of the painting.
The tree works well, but adding one other tree that comes up into the sky but not off the top of the painting would enhance the already wonderful thing you have going here.
Very, very nice piece.

I really like how you have done the snow and the texture of the barn in this one, but agree with Artistry on the trees.  |

I sure do feel COLD just looking at it! Personally, I like to see a hint of warmth in a winter scene to take the edge off, but I realize that you may be going for this particular look. I would be interested in seeing how the mood would change by having the snow reflect a little sunlight???

Ah that makes me smile! The thing is, it is a painting, just using a nother kind of paint so to speak I am trained classically in oils and watercolors and I feel that digital painting is every bit as challenging and capable as those. I am glad to be getting some of the responses I have, because it is support for the fact that digital painting has come of age and needs to be looked at seriously by all artists, Thank you

The fact that you actually felt cold looking at it, makes me feel I accomplished the artistic goal. The title "Cold and Damp" says it all. With sun I would have to call it "Chilly and Bright" LOL NOT I know how you feel because I get the same reaction myself. It is a painting that is supposed to make you a bit uncomfortable and want to go somehwere warm
Not all art makes you feel good, just feel. If I evoked something in you I am glad of that.

Gene, although i agree with Diane's thoughts on the composition, (hmmmm... i must be learning from her)  i find this to be incredible!! Awsome!! amazing!! I feel cold as well!
