Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Even though it was raining this morning (I didn't think it was supposed to), we did see the owls. Not the best condition for photos, but here is one.
The color is a bit washed out because of increasing the contrast.
A good morning, overall.

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Good Day Washers from a sunny 14 C. morning in the Grove.
Quickly popping in before I head outside. I transplanted a few pond plants and perennials yesterday. It felt good to get that done. Yes, Darla, I am taking it slow and steady.
However, two of my pond transplants were knocked over during the night sometime.. One is fine but the other was a young transplant and all that is left in the pot is a bit of dirt. Racoons or maybe some the feral cats.
Don, Barred Owl ??? I love the sound of their call.
JJ, 3 cakes ??? Hope the decorating of the hat turns out well.
Uschi, I have had my potted geraniums outside for the past 2 weeks. They are quite hardy. My passion flower and Bougy are staying outside tonight on the deck on the easy start mower.
Hap, I am so sorry to read that Annie is still going through some rough times emotionally. Have the doctors addressed that?
Dan is gathering up the week's laundry.. It will be a hang outside to dry day. I need to get dressed and get outside...
So waving to all and I will say "what Char said" and see you all later.
Cheers,
Gail

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Good day all! Greyish here, but sun soon. Am off to a fashion show this afternoon, I am supposed to wear two costumes this time, so some changing involved....and then the organizer called and said the basement is flooded, you'll have to change elsewhere, up the street Will be an interesting afternoon! It is in the historic town hall in Ancaster, so not many facilities, I hope there's at least a washroom on the main floor.
The building was built in 1872, and has seen many other interesting times.
Lovely pics of the owl, under difficult lighting, Don, such interesting birds!
Glad your mower is working well, Uschi, always intimidating those machines
Good luck with the cake, JJ!
I had a nice evening last night, my GS Anthony was playing Levi in Joseph and the.....Coat, and did a super job, they all did! It looked like a cast of thousands, they've been rehearsing since last fall, and then a cold went through the school, so several had some voice issues, but they carried it off nevertheless. I took some really terrible videos, but good enough that I can see it's him, I won't inflict them on you!
The strangest thing is that I didn't know what role he had, and the week before sent him a talking birthday card, with a French accent and some French phrases....his character, for those that aren't familiar with the show, had to sing a very drunken song (morphs into 'those were the days') with a French accent! Here he is, makeup still on, with his proud grandad (the braces didn't show up on the stage)
Have a good day everyone,

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Good morning all from overcast Plano, TX.
Posted my painting in the gallery. Backgrounds and I do not get along very well! Thank goodness I have different kinds of paint to choose from!
Lynn, the most important thing to your grandson is that you were there to watch his performance! Hope you have fun today at the fashion show.
Gail, I loved the photos of your pond. It looks like it came out of a magazine. I had several ponds, but our summers are so hot they turn green. I gave up when the owls started taking my best fish for dinner. Maybe when I retire, I will build one again.
Don, the owls are amazing. Don't worry about getting everything perfect with your sketches! The object is to practice and have fun. I plan to sketch tomorrow from my container plants. That will be my Mother's Day treat!
Char, yes I had a wonderful sleep! I did not have to get up to go to work, and my husband let me sleep in. He had to get up early to check if his baseball games were cancelled. After an inch of rain last night, they were.
Ona, I can only imagine how excited you are! I am sure there will be many distinguished artists there including you!
Hap, I hope Anne is feeling better today. Sometimes women cannot turn off the "what ifs" in their minds. She has been through a lot and the fear of the unknowns can be too much. I have been there, and twenty years after my surgery wrote a thank you to the doctor who gave me my life back. Just be there for her.
Good morning to everyone I have failed to mention. Happy Mother's Day to all! And most especially, to everyone in need.

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Hello all,
After a msg from Char and a poke from JJ on fb I thought I'd better pop in to say hello and let you all know I'm still in the land of the living. Have been very busy lately and also very stressed trying to cope with elderly parents (mine) who won't take advice from us and then make poor decisions which rebound on us financially. Very frustrating (need an icon for "tearing my hair out" !) Honestly, some days I think it's easier to have a new born baby!
Rant over!
Weather's getting colder by the week here though we've still had some good warm days.
Had a "gees" meeting last night with our fellow travel companions re our upcoming October trip to Namibia/Botswana - great fun and now I'm really looking forward to it. ("Gees" is an Afrikaans word meaning spirit - so a gees meeting is to get you into the right spirit for something - not sure what that's called elsewhere?)
Off to the Kamberg before sunrise tomorrow morning on a photography excursion with friends. Hoping to get some good shots while the light is good. Hope it's not too cold.
Gotta head off to make supper (welsh rarebit) so won't do any catch up reading, but just to say to everyone and hope to pop in again soon. Hugs to all in need.

Thank you for answering about the touch. I will employ it in commenting now, I did not dare before
Good to have sun today, lot of winds too so I'm painting inside, some exercise about candles ... LOL After some attemps in the wet I wanted to try the wet on dry but ... After the first wash was dry I started a second one then wet in wet again .... I can't help it when I see pigment in the bath I always want to play with water. Washes on dry is not for me I'm not patient enough . I will show you after when dry.

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Not much going on here, others have interferred with my plans My idea was for Jack and I to go to Ikea, to finally get a buffet/sideboard to replace the functional but unattractive white board shelving unit we have there now. My sister and her daughter and 3 of her 5 childern are coming up tomorrow for Mother's day. At our daughters farm for a barbecue but I know they will come over to see the house. We would have done that yesterday but couldn't. (weekend's not the ideal time to go to Ikea) So this morning I planned to go, (Jen and Lauren are doing the Race for Life) BUT, Jack has the opportunity to go PAINTBALLING!! with the boys. Ok, 12ish? Just got a call regarding the part we need for our motorized awning, should be here by 1:30 (we need a smily for "annoyed and frustrated")
Oh well, BBL

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
I know the feeling Judy. We leave for vacation on Fathers Day. SIL decided she will come in that weekend. I know that she will demand we be there for a party the night before. However, I will be packing and doing laundry for the trip. I will let my DH go, and I will continue with my plans.
We are running to the mall right next to Ikea. I have got to run in just to look while I am in the neighborhood. Never know what you will find.

Happy weekend all!
Had just settled into the computer chair like a happy bag of ooze, and my husband popped in to ask if I'd like to go look at lumber. Of course I would, it's so pretty. So just a quick hello, hugs to all in need, those are amazing owls, and away we go.

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Good Afternoon all,
It is almost 3:00 p.m. on a nice Springish Day here in Oakwood. Larry is out cutting the grass which is growing like crazy! We planted some perennial flowers in the border along our walk in front. We decided to go this way because the ones we had there are blooming like crazy and look so nice with minimum effort on our part. Duh, why didn't we think of this before. So when we went to the garden store to pick up our veggies, we got four pretty perennials to put out front. Still need to get more because there are a couple of spots that are still bare.
Put in six tomato plants (two each of Brandywine, Celebrity, and Rutgers), four red Carmine sweet peppers, three Ichiban Japanese-type eggplants and lettuce, Italian parsley, Swiss Chard, and basil. Saw a rabbit hopping around the outside of the chicken wire fence looking for a way to get in. Hah! Didn't find one, of course. Wish it were that easy with the squirrels, but Larry is looking into building a structure like Gail showed us where we can put a netting cover to protect the part with tomatoes and cucumbers.
I got my lesson on Properties of Color prepared for next Wednesday's class. Got to dig out some example paintings to illustrate the different sections...a picture is worth a thousand words, right. I also have to decide on which photo to use for next Monday's water class and get it drawn out since tomorrow is going to be a busy one. I have four from the RIL to choose from including Doug's gorgeous one of Lake Garda at Twilight.
Great photos of Grandkids in stage makeup and owls in trees.
:wave to all of you who were here before me and to those still on their way.
SYL,
Sylvia

Re: **Daily Wash Saturday 12th May 2012**
Hi all - if someone sent me a Private Message, I cannot get them. Apparently all PM's are going to my "other" WC account, the duplicate. I get an email telling me I have one, but I can't log in from the other account to get it. If tech support ever gets the accounts merged and removes one of them, I should be able to get PM's, but until then, no go.
