HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY for you.. I had created a desktop link that I was using that took me to that page as you and just assumed because it had the username already typed in.. I was on the right page.. I was wrong. LOL!
I don't know anything about the menu or the dash board.. but if you're getting them I guess that's all that counts right?

I don't feel bad and I don't feel dense. There seems to be something wrong with Firefox. When I get to the instruction: "Then right click on each of these links in blue below, select "Save Target as" and save to your hard drive.I would use Internet Explorer. " Doing so in FF asks me for an htm file, as I said before. FF is my browser of choice for 99.9% of my internet browsing. Downloads should work in both FF and IE9.
However, as a last resort, I decided to try this in IE9 (thought I had tried it before. This time, it asked me to save the files as .flv, and now they are downloading properly.
I assume that some had success downloading with FF. Why my FF failed or what was missing, I do not know. All the add ons seem to be there in my FF.
Whatever, I'm thru talking about this hassle and wasting any more time.

Doug, browsers are like people: each has its own personality; each does whatever it wants; each is unpredicable in what it might do in a previously unencountered situation; and each has trouble communicating at times. Go figure! You are not really wasting time because you just learned something! Life's too short to get upset about this stuff; go paint! That's what I do when I get stressed by this stuff. Stu

It was a waste of time in that there were about a billion more important things that I could have been doing instead. And btw-I am not upset, just royally pissed off at having my time wasted.
I know you mean well, but please do NOT pretend to know how I feel about this. My Fibromyalgia makes it difficult getting thru a regular normal day, let alone extra trivial hassles like this.
It's such a colossal turn-off that I am going to focus on other things for a while, thank you very much.

Re: Live Paint Along Classes Discussion Thread
Doug - As said, browsers behave in their own fashion....With Firefox I have to 'left' click (rather than 'right') to pull up the 'save' dialogue box. There is nothing to tell me it is downloading - I just sit back and wait, then will go to the place I saved my file & check the size to see if it has finished. There will generally be 2 files showing ( one will say part) - the second will show a file size, but it won't change while you watch - later, I'll check again and sure enough the file size has increased. Most of the time it takes about 10 min to download (I do realize this depends on individual circumstances).

Doug and Stu,
I screwed around with this stuff an embarrassing number of times before getting it right. I, too, downloaded them by mistake as HTML files and had to go back and change the file setting to ALL files before they'd download as FLV files. Because Johannes knows the correct sequence he doesn't realize that it isn't all that clear to the rest of us, especially all of us with different types of computers and programs installed. I'm glad he has an infinite amount of patience with us in this just as he has with our painting, which, among other things, makes him such a fantastic teacher. Back to the painting. Because of this I am WAY behind on my homework, lol.

Re: Live Paint Along Classes Discussion Thread
doug - altho i feel for you suffering from fibromyalgia, i can assure you that it's not only your time that is precious. and not only you get annoyed about things.
see how many people 'wasted' their time trying to help you and others.
and what about Jo?? sending us so many emails and possible solutions?? i'm sure the tech side is taking up many many hours of his 'free' time.

Re: Live Paint Along Classes Discussion Thread
I think I can help
Johnannes instructions (the part I can show you) were
right click on each of these links in blue below, select "Save Target as" and save to your hard drive.
The secret is to click on the links below that were in his actual e-mail (I was looking for those links to be at UStream) Also in his instructions he gave us the correct link to use to go to UStream. I did not realize that was a working link. So I used a link that was on my PC which took me to the wrong place............ Hope this helps........Dorian

Whatever, Nougat, I really don't care about your two cents worth.
Just remember your own words the next time YOU want/need help!
Nougat to the ignore list!

Ivor WAS in the right place. The problem was that his computer wanted to save it as an HTML file and that isn't a video file. He already knew not to mess around in Ustream and he was using the email files. This happened to me too before I looked closely and managed to change the file setting. Kathy

Doug, I am sorry about my posting in that it was very patronizing and insensitive to your medical problem which I am well aware of. I too got very upset also over all the SNAFUs at NorthLight, and I do understand that all of this makes your medical condition worse because it adds to your stress level. Most of the people who post here are probably healthier than you and able to handle the added stress a little better and do not understand your condition. I know that Jo has been working overtime on all this and wants to make it easier for all of us. I hope that the ability to download improves; like you said you should be able to just click and not worry about it. I truly believe that art should be relaxing and not productive of stress, and I think you are doing the right thing in just shifting your focus until things improve. Stu

- OOPS, My bad. I'm so confused now I don't know who I am any more. Ivor will wonder how he got into all this and BTW, I don't mind helping, but it seems i'm more of a hindrance than a help sometimes, sorry. I finally got those videos downloaded after several false starts and glad yours are going along OK now too. Kathy
