Re: Paquerettes after Bouguereau

well dear John---- What I think Is so very marvelous.
I wouldnt have a clue or control to do this kind of digital work, and to even be doing a copy study as this.

I dont know how you do it and your very inspiring.

It shows that you have cultivated your talents my man.

And I also know your much more than this artwork !!!!! Bravo.

Re: Paquerettes after Bouguereau

Dear Carol
I don't have too much of a clue either, just plugging along, trying to make it look like oils. I think this is my 5th one now, still using Gimp & a mouse, tried the pen and couldn't get the hang of it I thought it'd be easier.

Once again, thank you for the kind thoughts, you inspire me!

Re: Paquerettes after Bouguereau

Brant,thanks, that is my aim

Kevin, good eye as always! Just looked at my ref, and they could have been shadowed more. Thanks for looking, I appreciate your crits.

Bethany, thank you too!

Hi Sandra, you know, I looked again, and it's pretty close, But I did punch up those two little pink spots on her cheeks by mistake, but I liked them so I left it. Good eye!
Think Bougie would mind? I'm glad you like the eyes, I spend more time on those than anything.

If anybody wants, I could post the ref I was working from, might make it easier to compare?

Thanks again guys!

Re: Paquerettes after Bouguereau

You know, I often click on the links on wet canvas and see good work, but every so often I am truely wowed. Yes there are great artists with a lot of talent, but this to me has a resonating heartbeat of it's own. Truly truly incredible. Thank you for sharing.

When I read you did this with a mouse I was left flabbergasted. Amazing.

John, this is truly masterful. You have captured the look of Bougerau's era brilliantly.

Very nice. I like the pink on the cheeks, too. When my daughter was little, her cheeks became bright pink when she was tired.

Susan, thank you for the kind words! Now, if only it was in oils...

Crafor, thanks, happy you like it. In this case, I think I was tired when I painted the cheeks, but I like them too.

Good work John ! If I didn't know I could easily mistake your works with photos of the original. Still amazed you do these with a mouse ! I bet when you switch back to oil paint you will have gained greatly from these studies, without spending a single buck on equipment and without having to clean up brushes and stuff. Keep them coming.
