Tomb Raider Contest entry

This is for a Tomb Raider contest. I did it on black canvas with Faber Castell Polychromos. First time using these pencils and first time trying a canvas.
I made the mistake of spraying with workable fixative and lost about 70% of the picture when it darkened almost completely black. I lightened up again the best I could and now it is unsealed. No clue what I can use to seal it with now and I don't want to ruin it.

Re: Tomb Raider Contest entry

Only thing I can think of is matt varnish BUT I know there are plenty of others who will know the answer. All else fails check in the CP library, it is full of useful information including about workable fixatives, varnishes etc.

Anyway, besides that issue I think your piece is great -really dramatic .

WC member Bleuie works on canvas - might be worth PMing him and asking what he uses to seal his pieces.

Re: Tomb Raider Contest entry

Hi there Ang, I'm still experimenting with CP on canvas and how to seal it as well. I've used GOLDEN Polymer Varnish with good results but I don't have any idea how it will work with Polychromos. Varnish and fixatives will affect the image in varying degree. You should try it on a test piece first. I spray mine with fixative first before applying the varnish.

If you are going to frame it under glass, you can go without the varnish as Polychromos is oil based and doesn't suffer from wax bloom.

Hope this helps.
