Hi all,
I haven't been on here for while. Good to see the familiar's still posting.
I just purchased some Claessens med linen#15 DP(double primed). I wanted to try a new venture not sure what I would find. I've been using Utrecht med linen oil primed and Paramount cotton acrylic primed for good practice. Anyhow, I ordered a sample set of Claessens linen, and painted a small apple on a few patches, I thought it was interesting ground. I went ahead and ordered 3 yds of med #15. Now that I've painted with it for a couple of weeks. I find the ground to be to Spongy, if I can say that. I dont know what other word to use. It's the strangest ground. It's very non-absorbent and the oil doesn't go anywhere and that's ok. But whatever they use to prime their canvas feels like acrylic but it's not. To me acrylic feels spongy. Anyone else paint with Claessens or experienced with it..??
I wont be buying it anymore.
If anyone is interested I've posted the rest of the unused canvas on Ebay..
