One of the best sculptures I have seen you do. Nice work in the back and hips.

You have an obvious affinity with the 3d but your 2d is excellent choose how you felt ! Do you fire your clay work?

Re: 1st - 3rd May 2012: Flats and Rounds but no Filberts
Thanks A.M. The back sort of modelled itself, the arms and legs are lot more tricky.
Trevor thanks. Yes this will be fired when finished.

I have to agree .... I love that sculpture , its pretty Fab !!... the drawing is all practice and they look good to me ...you manage to include the object they are siting on etc ...I dont always focus on that and should be more so ...maybe

I see no stiffness in your drawing or your clay work- wonderful stuff!
That curve in the back of the clay is swee-ee-eet! (as my students say!)

Re: 1st - 3rd May 2012: Flats and Rounds but no Filberts
Thanks Sandra. I just wished I'd started the 20 minute drawings as if they were 2 minute drawings and see where they would take me.
Egon thanks
Thanks Bethany, the back is definitely the best bit of the sculpture so far.

Thanks Arl, I'm sometimes annoyed by the lack of time but I do consider myself lucky,
Robert thanks. I'm certainly with you about days having more hours. Choices is what it is all about. Take care.

Nice 20 minutes ones, Nathan. That's a lot recorded for such a short time and they are all so in-place. Love the sculpture too

Thanks Kiran. Twenty minutes sometimes seems a long time but forty minutes was too short.

Re: 1st - 3rd May 2012: Flats and Rounds but no Filberts
You have used all the three dimensions so well in that sculpture. A incredibly good modelling of the back. Don't for one moment say the back "sort of modelled itself" --- it was the skill and the knowledge of the sculptor that made that happen. And I envy those attributes.

Re: 1st - 3rd May 2012: Flats and Rounds but no Filberts
Thanks Geoff. Maybe I chose the wrong phrase. It's just sometimes whether it is a case of being "in the zone" or happy accidents things just work without having to struggle. Note, happy accidents are much more likely if you put in the practice and legwork before hand.
