Painting metals namely brass in watercolors

Hi all,

I would like some help in painting the color or illusion of brass or bronze. I'm in the process of painting or trying to paint a brass or bronze garden finial. Any help would be much appreciated.

When painting (shiny) metal, make sure you have hard contrasts - dark areas next to light ones. Additionally, don't be afraid to splash in some reflected colours. For example, if there's green bushes next to the finial, some of the green will reflect in the brass.

Check out the Painting Chrome Class, there is a WIP of a brass painting I did.
