Long Slide Falls...top looking down

I like it , especially the foreground rocks to the right, not so much the outline on the rocks to the left.

Thanks..both of you. I don't mind discussing the work Brad...interestingly when looking down, that edge of the rock was quite dark and especially against the foil of the distant planes. Then I realized more importantly that the asymmetry fails in the picture with too much visual weight to the right were that darker accent removed or taken out.

The leading diagonals of tree branches, rocks, etc...direct the eye down and to left but were there no darker accent...nothing to anchor such direction, only the weight of the heavier right bearing down. If one imagines that darker edge not there in that light, think you'll see what I mean. Again though...it became easier for me to realize its resolve actually seeing its presence. Perhaps that the spray of water or humidity rising... wetting the rock for one, two the shadows of the mass on the right casting darks....but of whatever account it was darker and just too convenient to ignore as a design component for asymmetry.

I don't have a problem with the dark per se, it's just that it appears to me to be an outline rather than a face of the rocks. There isn't a lot of variation in the line, which is probably how you saw it. Forgive the presumption, but I did some tweaking.

Saw this one earlier and elsewhere and it still looks good Larry. As much as things are growing out here right now it must look pretty dang good in Wisconsin...time to paint before the heat comes our way!

I like the point of view - from the top instead of straight on. Very big challenge to show the back of the cliff drop off.

There is a great big huge difference between seeing beauty and communicating it to others isn't there? Even in photography there is a big gap.

Thanks everyone...been crazy busy, have been meaning to make comment...appreciated. it is interesting Ron how painters outdoors adapt. Some I know in Florida talk about the importance for themselves painting early morning and by m10am they must be done. Too hot by that time. The kinds of scenes and things that catch my eye, the whole southern part of the US would be intriguing for other reasons besides heat, water moccasins or snakes in general, alligators...you name it. Hear...we have ticks, bears, wolves...rednecks...the later probably more consistently a hazard! Hahahaa...
