La Petite Mendiante, copy of Bouguereau
I used Photoshop, round hard brush. The original size - not less than 2000 pixels on the long side. I painted this picture for almost a year ago.

Re: La Petite Mendiante, copy of Bouguereau
This is marvelous work.
I like alot of things in this, the feet are well done, the face is interesting, the clothes are also also maginificant.
I don't know if you like any comments but mine are about the hands and the background.
I think the idea was to paint relaxed plum hands, which still needs more work. The effect of the pressure on the right hand leaning feels too plum and her left hand finger don't look relaxed.
Since the painting has a professional finished feel to it, I think you need to continue on the background, the empty space on the top right looks like a dimension warp or something.
Maybe a climbing tree or vine oriented addition would work well there.
I have a question about the age, how old is the girl in the reference? Her eyes are very mature but her body is small. I sorta of like it in a way, something of an enigma.
Thanks for posting, I've enjoyed this piece.

Re: La Petite Mendiante, copy of Bouguereau
Hmm, (ashamed) I didn't know that, thanks for introducing me to the artist.
Looking at the original the detail on the top right is more greyish though and has some noise speckles. Which would help solidfy it.
Also for the hands it looks like the contrast is not so wide between the lighted parts and the shadow parts of the hands, its more of a muted matte transition.
Since its photoshop maybe you can try bringing the values closer together and blending between the dark and light values, I can easily see the seperation between the bright and dark colors but in the original I can't.
These edits should be a breeze for you after painting all that eyecandy and beauty.

Oh you did the sherlock painting as well? That one is also fantastic. I think both of them where my favorite today on wetcanvas.

Very nicely done! Many adjustments can be made 'after' the work is done- a fine tuning with several versions is also possible. Copying master's work is always an excellent practice and study.

Re: La Petite Mendiante, copy of Bouguereau
There are many excellent things in this complicated work! The drawing, values, color, and handling are very good, and the study is faithful to much of the details of the original. The beauty and sophistication of a master like Bouguereau are a great challenge for any artist- ambitious and well done!
Photoshop (digital) work can be tricky on it's own, too. In my experience, there is a 'removed' quality to working onscreen with tablets and the mechanical nature of programs.
Some of your contrasts are a bit higher than his, and some areas are sharper too. Some more softening could be done of both in the face, hair, and her right hand and lessening of contrasts. The color overall in the distant cliffs is a touch light, and could use more grays, especially the rock faces at right. Small adjustments that would be much harder in paint- Excellent work!
