Re: Seagull (Jonathon Livingston?)
Love the touch of the bits of down and the feathers on his end..haha Wonderfully done, water is well done too and er if ya don't mind tho the buildings on the dock in the background, I get why they aren't so sharp but just my thought, a tad more definition I think would give it a more finished look, the blur makes you think distance but it kind of looks unfinished, Again just me tho, I kind of got a bit distracted by it is all.

Re: Seagull (Jonathon Livingston?)
very cool, The contrast of texture....details of bird against focus of background, effective.
I like the incidental loose tuft of feather here n there!
The black sits very well in this playing well off the teal

Re: Seagull (Jonathon Livingston?)
Thank you to....
Dee, he looks quite regal doesn't he.
Karen, thank you he was just a seagull, now I know better.
Elaine, I tried more defined and lost depth, maybe a little greyed out might do it.
Michael, I think there's a bit of preening going on here with those untidy feathers.
Bettie, a little humour is always good.
Rob, fiddled about with the background quite a bit but getting better.

Re: Seagull (Jonathon Livingston?)
Just noticed the leg on the right (his left) looks kinda skinny compared to the other one.

Hi Karen, leg is as in the photo, must have feet pointing out at an angle.

Re: Seagull (Jonathon Livingston?)
Well done. The subject is beautifully rendered and has great character.
I have a similar reservation to noodle1's. The detail in the water near and past the building in the background doesn't match up with the lack of detail in the building itself. Hope you find the balance that works for you, because it is an excellent painting. Cheers!
