Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
Good Morning from me! I think it's a different day now, Shirl! LOL!
Just got back from a camping trip, in my Sister's caravan. We didn't go far, only 60 miles away, just to test the caravan as it's a new-to-her caravan with only 3 months warranty.
Apart from a few little minor faults, it's all working fine! Me and Sis (and my doggie) had a great time, just chilling out, painting pics, knitting and watching tv. Walking the dog...The weather was pretty cold, quite windy some days and the nights were very cold, frost some nights! I packed some summer clothes, but stayed in my winter ones (even thermal underwear!)
May is supposed to be the beginning of summer here in the UK. However the forecast is that summer will begin next week, warm air coming from Spain and the south, thank goodness for that. All my seeds haven't even shown yet, so much for the cold frame. Midsummer's day is the 24th June here, after that the nights will start drawing in again...
Thanks for all the encouragement re giving up smoking, I find others' experiences help me very much. Still haven't tried quitting again yet, I'm sooo fed up of failing. But I will try again soon.
Need to get on with that collage of the ferry... just don't know how!
Hope you all have a good weekend and get whatever you need to do done!
A pic of a copse near where I walk the dog at home for you.

Re: smoking, they say every time you try, the odds you will succeed improve. So better to keep trying and fail until at last you succeed.
I'll try again, good morning everyone
I got a notice from the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association that they were going to inspect my house soon. Apparently, they do that every 5 years to be sure what they are insuring. The last time, they inspected the wrong house, and I couldn't get them to come back and do the right one So yesterday I called them when I got the notice, and reminded them. They said I should send photos, so they could compare them afterwards. Here's what I sent.
The view from the courtyard out front. If I back up any farther, you can't see the house for the foliage.
The view from the golf course in the back.

Beautiful photos Jayjay and Shirl! Howdy Jackie! I know the feeling....
I am busy every second and tired all the time. We had 2 major tests last week, the cooking ome was insane and stressful. Tons of homework and extra projects to do! Grandkitty visiting, little pound dog still causing chaos. Ready Crazy Sexy Diet, and recommend that to everyone, overweight or not to regain health. It is fun to read so will attempt to get youngest to read it too.
Miss you all!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
Good morning, Shirl! (Although it's afternoon ) Lovely pictures of your home!!!
I've been awol too -- I've not been terribly busy, just getting caught up at home and not on the computer as much as normal. I've also had relaxation time AND been out shopping 3 days this past week -- that's got to be a record for me!
I decided to get a juicer. . .so I was price comparing. I'd been kicking around the idea of "juicing" for one or two meals a day and decided to take the plunge. After I bought the juicer, I found out about a documentary available on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Almost Dead." It was such a compelling film that DH got drawn into it in the first 5 minutes. I recommend this movie -- even if you aren't interested in juicing. Anyway. . .now DH wants to "juice" a meal a day. I decided to try a 3-day detox before going to the one or two meals per day replacement. I bought TONS of vegies and fruits (good thing we have a spare refrigerator). Kale is the highest vitamin/mineral "green" so I tried it. Oh yuck--tastes like eating the lawn!! Today for lunch I reduced the kale to one large plume, added 2 pears and 3 celery sticks -- not bad!! For breakfast this morning we both had carrot and orange juice (50/50 mix) and it was YUMMY! I've been all over the net getting juice recipes and other tips, there's lots of good sites out there. I'm thinking that when I finish the detox I may give the raw foods diet a go. . .they recommend 80% raw foods every day, the other 20% can be cooked. There's some other restrictions/rules, but not bad and definitely doable.
Jackie,
I see you on FB, so know that you are okay But, it's good to see you pop in here!!!
JayJay,
I love camping, not sure I'd like it in cold weather. It sounds like you had an enjoyable and relaxing time. Lovely pic -- are those wild irises?
Linda,
I think of you often and KNOW that you've got to be running to and fro!! How many weeks (or months) is this course? I like your book title better than the documentary title I posted on the same subject -- eating for health!
to everyone and wishing all a good day and week!!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
Brenda, I saw that movie months ago! It is fantastic! My juicer is so messy to use, and it expels the pulp.....I wanted the pulp for fiber. So I got a Nutrimix a few months before starting school, and discovered the school uses those for everything, as do the juice bars and most restaurants! Google juiceland Austin and take a look at their combinations.....remember some cayenne and other spices are good for you too and make the green juices taste better! And buy organic so you don't get a concentration of pesticides!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
Linda,
My juicer works well, doesn't seem to have much waste in the pulp/fiber (no chunks), and is very easy to clean. A friend told me to save the pulp/fiber and put it in soups, DH tried it and said it was very good (he just put some in the pan with Campbell's tomato soup). I'm very happy with it, HOWEVER. . . a friend who's been juicing for about a year told me that she has the Vitamix. If juicing goes well for me, DH and I decided that I'd give the juicer to DD and we'll buy a Vitamix. Two immediate thoughts I had upon first using the juicer is 1) I'd like to sometimes throw ice cubes in and make it more like a smoothie, but I don't want to get the blender out and have another "thing" to clean and 2) the fiber that is being wasted bothers me. The Vitamix would solve both of those issues (as does your Nutrimix). I'm very much enjoying juicing, but want to see how well I do on the long term. I've way too many appliances stored in the garage after the novelty wore off
I'm finding lots of good food combinations just by experimenting and have added some herbs/seasonings but not cayenne yet. There's SO MUCH online as far as recipes go!! I've discovered that grapefruit cuts the nasty kale taste very well -
I'm at the end of day 3 of the cleanse/detox. The hardest day for me was the 1st day. I haven't had any side effects -- no headaches, nausea, etc. Maybe I wasn't as toxic as I thought I was
to all and hoping everyone is doing well!!

Brenda - just a quickie reply - they are wild bluebells, a native wildflower of the UK!
Just a quick in and out - hope you are all ok and being creative. The sunshine has finally arrived, so we're in the mid 70s now, that makes a change! Am doing the garden whilst the sun still shines! LOL!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
JayJay, that's a lovely bluebells photo!
Your home is very attractive, Shirl, and hope you get your insurance sorted soon.
BTW everybody, if you have time and want to, we need more posting comments on the Watermedia page. April threads from the first of that month are still there and we're almost into June, so that is roughly 2 months' worth of threads with little activity. In other words, I need help making this forum more active. Even if you can post a painting that would be fine, too. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Kay. I mailed the photo off to the Windstorm people. We'll see what comes of it.
I've been suffering the invasion of my home by a (o)possum. If you are interested, you can follow the saga with photo in the latest posts to the Quick Dry Cafe thread.

Hellooooooooo....
omigosh, has it been that long since I've posted here??
I just briefly scanned and saw photos - nice place Shirl!
And bluebells from JayJ...
Kay, so sorry, but I promise I'll participate more starting with June...
B and I never made our 'date' to meet up one more time...
Ona & Jackie, I've been able to keep up with your goings on via FB...
Azure - you need to get Facebook
Although, Linda, I know you're on FB, but you don't post much...
You too Doug...
I find it's easier to scan that (FB) and make quick posts for right now...
We are in the last stages of packing.. the movers will be here Wed. morning at 8am and deliver to the new place on Thursday morning. We have gotten tons done, and there is still so much more to do!!
I probably won't be checking in until at least the weekend - we're supposed to have internet at the new place by Friday....
Thinking of you all, hope all is well with everyone!
11hugs,
ML

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ May, 2012
Hello folks,
Been a long time since I have been here. So long that I had to email Shirl on how to get back started in the community. It is good to be back and hope to be on, on a much more regular basis.
Back painting and drawing and even going back to school for it.
I see some faces I recognize here and some new ones. It is so nice to know that thing keep going here
