Re: Outside the Lines - May 2012 Chat Thread

Howdy gang! Just droppin' in to say I hope all the moms out there had a good day on Sunday. My hubby cooked for me, his mom, and my step mom. We played cards and just spent the day together. It was a very good day for us.

Have a super Tuesday!

Re: Outside the Lines - May 2012 Chat Thread

I just got a big order, too. I really struggled using stubbies my last piece!

And I'm going to do more on canvas, so chomp, chomp, chomp!

Love the garden photos!

Elaine, know what you mean about the clay! We put up a new screen gazebo on Sunday and cannot get the big spike that held the old one out of the ground, despite the rain, etc. I am going to have to excavate it with a shovel....

Anyway, I planted morning glories all around the gazebo. Now I was going to do art today and you guys make me get all gardeny....

Re: Outside the Lines - May 2012 Chat Thread

Mornin' Rosemary and Robin!

Rosemary, Avaition art sounds cool! Not interested in creating it myself, but who doesn't love to view all kinds of art!!

Robin, morning glories??? Aren't they just beautiful!! I have a colored pencil painting in my head involving morning glories, that will happen soon. They grow wild in my yard when the summer rains start. I have pics of them too, if I can find them!

I was outside last night watering my rose garden, and there's a family of bunnies living there. I've been seeing the adult cottontails, but last night I saw a baby, small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. It was absolutely adorable. Dropped everything to go grab the camera, then couldn't find it again. Oh well, so many lost photo ops!!

Have a great day gang!

Re: Outside the Lines - May 2012 Chat Thread

Howdy all!

Wanted to share a couple more garden photos.

First one - Chula Vista bathed in yellow. This is my rose garden, we planted it beneath native trees - Mesquite and Palo Verde. The trees are now dropping their blossoms, so there's a carpet of yellow in my rose garden. Feel free to use any you wish.

And, this is a newly discovered resident of my rose garden. I sure hope it survives, I have a cat!!

Beautiful garden! And oh my goodness, that bunny!!
These are my Siberian Iris. I have moved them several times, and I've finally found a spot next to the pond where they are thriving.

Sadly, no. Once and done.

Vincent van Gogh Bought Coloured Pencils

"In 1985, Calment moved into a nursing home, having lived on her own until age 110. Her international fame escalated in 1988, when the centenary of Vincent van Gogh's visit to Arles provided an occasion to meet reporters. She said at the time that she had met Van Gogh 100 years before, in 1888, as a thirteen-year-old girl in her uncle's fabric shop, where he wanted to buy some canvas, later describing him as "dirty, badly dressed and disagreeable", and "very ugly, ungracious, impolite, sick". Calment recalled selling coloured pencils to Van Gogh, and seeing the Eiffel Tower being built."

Re: Vincent van Gogh Bought Coloured Pencils

That's really interesting. I just came back from watching a film on Vincent Van Gogh at IMAX. He really laid the paint on his paintings, very thick but his paintings still look fresh. It must have been hard to be him.

Found this guy in my garden tonight. He's tiny. That's a chunk of bark much he's on, just to give a sense of scale.
