Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, May 2012
Maybe we need to try to organize an Oily Rag reunion...

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, May 2012
I'm downloading a 30 day free trial of Adobe Photoshop - mainly because I want to be able to overlay my painting with the reference photo. Hopefully it won't be too hard to learn how to do it!
The trial offer wasn't obvious on their homepage, so if anyone is interested, it's here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/in...duct=photoshop

Toril, I don't think you will have a problem with it..

Toril, good luck, and if you can't figure out how, just contact me and I'll tell you. I do that all the time! I have Photoshop 7, so I hope whatever the new one is now hasn't changed that much when it comes to making a layer translucent!
I've also found that if my reference isn't an exact match, I sometimes like the error I'm made so much more that I keep it!

I've got CS3, what she wants to do hasn't changed (and by that, I mean open the painting's image file, open the photo's, and drag the photo to the painting window, and reduce the transparency of the photo layer in the layers window).
The movie is pretty good, it's free on Hulu, and it's called "Shergar".

Becca, I'm so glad your trip was pleasant! Let's have our Oily Rag reunion in Australia, maybe in our winter so we would get to enjoy their summer? Let's see, their April would be going into their fall; that would be fun!
I've always dreamed of going to Australia!

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, May 2012
I was looking through the art catalogs tonight, and found something I thought I might try instead of Master's Brush soap (which I can always get with a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby). It's called Jack's Linseed Studio Soap Cleaner. I usually get the large 24 oz. tub of Master's, but this only comes as large as 8.5 oz., the right size for trying something new out. For $5.99, it sounds like something to add to my email ordering list.
Has anybody tried this, and what are your thoughts on it for cleaning brushes? If it's a good all-purpose oil cleaner, I might add some to my laundry load!

I am curious, but my tub of Master's looks like it could last me for years!
Hbby Lobby's website has it for 7.99 (4 oz), could you use your coupon online?

Marcia, don't know how things are now, but used to be coupons only applied to store purchases...

I have the 4 oz size of Master's and I've barely put a bent in it after a few months of use. Best stuff I've ever used to clean my brushes and rescue some that I thought I destroyed.
Good Morning Everyone, going to be in the 90's here today.

Good Morning Everyone!!!
I am tired. Got to bed after 1 AM, stupid cat woke me up at 5:45, and I couldn't get back to sleep. I may go down to San Diego early, while it is cool.
