Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012

Peeps now if ya been looking at examples of the art nouveau you have to have noticed that more often then not the subject matter is 'encircled' (or part out part in) and the thick and thin curves and lines and such well that's the design aspect 'around' the focal point..haha soooooo that's one way to approach it and watch I'll be the one to screw it up now that I've said this....roflol.

Actually already have haha quill pen picked up the fibers of the paper (guess there is bad paper for some things.. ) and the art pen was filled with water soluble ink and yes I laid my hand on it while outlining ...
Katherine is right is easy peasy so long as you are paying attention..
Take two...haha

Sharrm glad you're joining in.. Just go with the flow girl..haha

Viv cutie I was so tempted to go for the Bird of Paradise, the literal one..haha but Katherine would have smacked me , no one said ya couldn't just pick some petals or interesting parts of the flower not always necessary to do the 'whole' thing..now I'm really gonna get in trouble with Teach, just watch.

Okay I'm leaving, French curves, Katherine blue's gonna love them..haha

Hugs,
Elaine

Shar, stop right now!! You are getting too much in your brain at the same time!
Concentrate on your design part first (AN) and when you get that settled, then
put the flower in!! See, curves and hard lines!! Easy!!

Ahh..... Teach that's what I luv about you. You know how to straighten me out Snarls, did you say Snarls...."Ladies" don't snarl Kat
OK, I hear ya, I'll take it one step at a time, will let you know how that goes ( ) for sure!!!!
You may hear me yelling down your way from way up here If I mess around with ink and french curves and such like Elaine and you!!
Thanks for the tips and ideas too Nods, I'm going to need them me thinks

Okay, maybe it was not a snarl. . .just a whimper when the line did not go where it was supposed to have!! Well, maybe the line looks better there and I was not really seeing the design right. . . It's there now!

Ta. . .as Maureen says!!

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012

Katherine & Elaine - The snarling you hear is from me!!!!....lines going in all directions...especially where they aren't wanted. I'm having lots of problems trying to put together, rainforest, bird of paradise, and Art Nouvau. At the moment I have a rather strange "alien" instead of a Bird of Paradise.....I had to laugh...not one of my best efforts, and I haven't even began to paint yet!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah blue - good idea? ........ not over here!
Too cold (though that would give us some blue) - but any prettiness would have been long-gone and the shivers would blurr the curves - or wobbles!!!

Now Katherine - I've been a-doodling and got some lovely shapes - even 'thunked' the BoP into them (no ref at the time) - so abstracted has it become (is that actually a word?) that it's entirely curvaceous and not a figure in sight ............. and I'm not about to squeeze one in either

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012

Blue & Maureen - I laughed and laughed...then the thought of me standing, turning blue in front of a mirror, stopped me laughing!

There we are team, - many ways of completing this Challenge...or Not as the case may be!

Well I've started applying paint. The Bird of Paradise is there...looking completely alien...the Art Nouvau is definitely there....but the jungle has done a runner and I can't find it anywhere!

Viv, guess the jungle will jusy have to be the colour

Had some time to work on mine in the last hour - so far so good - just sketching stage but got it more or less worked out.

I did not stand in front of the mirror - didn't want to buy a new one!

Wow, too much visual thought about that mirror. . .blue!! Start painting, my friend!!

I am liking the idea of abstract, too. Remember there are curvy vines in the jungle, too!! Just another thought!!

Hugs, Katherine

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012

Mine is a complete disaster. The more I worked on it the worse it looked, so as I hate to be beaten by it, I've scrubbed the bottom third of it off under the tap. It actually looks better without the bottom third, but I've no idea what I'm going to do with it now. It's been sitting around just looking at me for the last 2 days, so I guess I'll have to do SOMETHING with it soon. The way I'm going I'll be lucky to have anything to post on the 25th!

Viv, I am sorry for your troubles when you actually were doing something! This is just a tough challenge, and I have not even been able to come up with a concept that I like in my head (let alone on paper). I admire the tenacity and creativity of everyone here, but thinking at this point that I will not be posting this month unless my dreams improve and spit forth an idea! Good luck all!

Linettalee

don't worry about the BOP......you can use a piece of 'tumbleweed' between your teeth while standing in front of the full lenght mirror and paint up a storm........you don't have to thank me, we're all here to help!

Spikes and curves, curves and spikes.....still thinking and picking up the tips here everyone.please keep going and a little light may shine in my brain. Sounds like a PE lesson....spikes and curves, curves and spikes...or even a pop band? I'm prevaricating as I haven't started yet and it's so hard to be delicate and curvy.........oh dear!
