Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012
I absolutely love this! I love Mucha and flowers, never thought to put them together! Thank you, just the inspiration I need at the moment. Been real busy with work, work promotion and getting ready for a solo show. I definetly will try to squeeze this in

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012
...after looking at some of the flower pictures in the reference library and doodling...I think I've gotten hold of the "Art Nouveau" theme, but that bird of paradise flower is throwing me for a loop; I've never seen one in person, and the pictures - although lovely - still make it hard to wrap my mind around...

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012
Just to comment on what you said Angie, I lived in cold states for years and have always loved the beauty of the BOP, now that I am living in Southern California, they are everywhere! In person they are even more beautiful and no matter how many pictures I have taken of them, I feel like I can never capture their true colors.

I haven't ever seen one IRL either! Have painted them - but the stright lines and angles are going be a touch challenging for this style! A bit of manipulation needed!
Welcome Michele ........ you too Angie

Welcome to the Newbies and to Ros, Kat and Barbara and any other returning Flower Power People.
Marion - You've finished one already!!!! That was super quick! Good for you.
I haven't even got mine sketched out yet (actually it's still in my brain) so I better get it out of there and on to paper, real quick before I forget what I was going to do.

Re: The Plant Parade, a forum Project: May 2012
So exciting to have new peeps joining in!! Welcome.
Think you are right Maureen about the flower and style getting the flow between the two, it is thought provoking.
Time for artistic license I'd say..haha
Agnes sweetie, good tip thanks. I don't really have any cause I don't use templates or much of anything but a blank head haha and my pencil. Sometimes picking the direction of a petal or stamen or the leaves that surround it you can use that as a starting point and just follow out a curve you see there. As straight as this flower is it has curves and areas that you can turn into a loop or incorporate in your lines. Like here this is already rather typical of the AN curve used in some designs.
I just look at a lot of different flowers and not just the perfect ones you see photographed mostly. Sorry that's all I got to maybe help.
Well guess I should stop yakking and start doing.
Marion good for you girl, one down already..
Catch ya all later then,
Hugs all round,
Elaine

Katherine let me know about this, and it is interesting. I will try and see if I can do something for this. It is so completely different for me. Yikes!!!
