Try painting on canvas, and spraying the back of the canvas with water. It slows down drying time, and if you spray the area you are painting lightly with water, don't mind blending with your fingers, you wont need to use retarder.

Re: May Landscape Challenge

Trier, your industriousness is an inspiration! I like the way you take an image and experiment with a variety of pallettes.
Maria, that's such a peaceful and inviting scene.
Those are great tips for acrylics, meggs, and your jetty is lovely.
Cindy, those textures on the cliff are outstanding!.
I couldn't resist the backlit scene, although i didn't have a clue how to go about it. But that's what the "Challenge" is about, so I had a go.
This is 8x10 pastels on some peach-colored Canson. Not sure I captured the light very well but it was fun attempting it.

Re: May Landscape Challenge

Hi Everyone

I am having another go at improving my Landscape skills, I have not done very well with landscapes so far and want to improve. I really liked the first picture of 'Manzanillo Beach in Margarita Island' and thought I'd have a go. Here's my Work In Progress so far:

(WIP) Colour Pencil on Sketchbook paper, A5 (6x8)

I would be really grateful for any help and suggestions anyone can offer me!
