wip

This had a whole herd of people in it but didn't seem to work ... may put them back in
but not sure at this stage. First work thru. I've probably overdone it on reflected light
on that foremost rock but I rather like the glow to change it.

Re: wip

Lovely, dreamy quality to it - I like the strong mix of light and shadow. Nice job!

The uploader won't again ... so flikr.

Thanks Matthew, much appreciated. Still pondering on the composition a bit ...

Cut down on the foreground dark areas and put a figure back in the fray. He may go,
I don't know as yet.

Re: wip

I like the perspective in this and the changes you've made, softening the harsh darks, works well.

Re: wip

Thanks Jayde, Im thinking that one figure may not be enuf. I shall try added a few more
again. Its like one tree in a painting. It needs to be a heck of a tree to make it work. The
underneath layers are all sealed so it doesnt matter how many figures go in again.

See what happens really.

Re: wip

I like the 3rd version but that figure with the umbrella needs work on the short left arm. Other than that I like this one.

I think I'm getting close to the end of this one [ maybe, I'm never sure ].
I've taken one of the figures out pushed back the standing stones a bit,
added a moon, darkened the sky [ maybe too dark ] and put a dead tree
fallen into the gully in the foreground.

I also had a homer simpson moment while looking at Renoirs paintings a la
google. "Painting is all about touch" - I thought ... doh ! Not that renoir and
me have much in common.

The logo I asked a commercial artist to work on is looking pretty good.
Don't know if its worth the loot but its a bit of an ego massage I guess.
Maybe even make a few sales from it tho who knows? I'll post it soon as
its done, see what you think.

Got to try everything really.

Added a branch to the tree to balance out the movement downward. Lightened
the sky a little but I think it needs to be far lighter somehow. Not sure. I
shall probably give myself a headache over this one for another week or so
and lots of mucking about on photoshop on the sky to see what colour may
suit.

The commercial artist I engaged to have a crack at a store bought signature
has this initial idea ... a stylized zebra - i rather like it for some reason.

Re: wip

I like this one best and think you should leave it now, but it's your painting.

Re: wip

Thanks Margaret, you are probably right ... when one doesn't know what to do
with a painting, do nothing.

Re: wip

Those changes have totally changed the narrative of the painting, but then you seem to do that a lot (thinking of the fridge painting). I like what you've done - made it into a contemplative work.
I really like the signature. The zebra reminds me a lot of the cave painting type animals you have featured in some of your other landscapes.

Re: wip

Lovely. I'm glad you put the standing stones back in; now there is an implied journey, girl to stones, viewer's eye from front to back. My impression from the beginning was of a rather dreamy, fantastical landscape; you could have populated it with satyrs and dryads and it would have made sense.
