Re: May CHALLENGE

Maria, that's such an interesting technique and has a lot of visual interest and appeal. Great work with a nice sense of abstract.

Thank you so much, Kay! I appreciate the kind comments.

Hi Hal, and welcome to the forum! It's always so nice when a lurker decides to come join the fun. You did such a great job with the steer. The painting has a great mood. My only critique that the legs of the steer are drawn in at the knee/hock, while it should be pretty straight without the inward bend. Aside from that, you did a really nice job! Hope to see more of your work here. Thanks for the nice comment on my sketch.

Hal, your 'horns are wonderful! Sorry about the ref photo as I'd lightened as much as possible. You got a good enough read of him using OPs. He looks fine in his environment.

Re: May CHALLENGE

Thank you Jenna, I'll revisit the reference photo later.

Thank you Kay, I virtually washed out the photo trying for some detail. It was a fun project.

Re: May CHALLENGE

Jenna, very nice curls to the petals. Very disguishable. Leave it like that. It has great contrasts.

Linda, beautiful foreground. So colorful. Is it oil?

cem, I could feel the bright sun all over. Very effective.

Maria, great attempts at the dancing couple. The horse has good shading.

Hal, your bull is a riot. It has a dreary look and the background indeed looks a bit surreal. Very nice job. I'm glad you tried this.

Just a quick one using up the Bombay ink that spilled over.

Re: May CHALLENGE

Great work, Sandra! This is one of those pieces that has so much mystery and a lot of unanswered questions. That's a good thing, because I just keep looking at it.

Thanks for the kind comments on my drawing. I am going to leave it as is.

Re: May CHALLENGE

Had to try the sunflowers - my first attempt at any flowers! Fun and fast. Now I wish i'd done something w the BG. Not quite so dark IRL.

Re: May CHALLENGE

Beautiful work, Linda. One of those less-is-more paintings. I love the textures you got in the petals. Well done!

Re: May CHALLENGE

Oh I like this one, Sandra, that has the 'wolf at the door' feel to it.

Linda, your red sunflowers are lovely and much simplified than the photo is.
