Need a little help 'weathering' on acrylic.
New poster! Excuse me if I missed something, but digging around didn't jump anything out at me. I admit it's an odd method, so excuse my rambling.
Doing the base coats on a painting that will employ airbrushing, but since the acrylic is the base and probably the solution, figured it would work well here.
For reference, at the moment I'm using Artist's Loft materials. Hardly high-end, I know, but the set was on clearance cheap enough that it was worth it to buy for the modeling paste and texture medium alone.
I mixed these 50/50 and added a little black to tone it, then applied across canvas for an effect almost exactly like the local cement walls.
The problem is that it looks brand new, and I need a basis that looks weather beaten and run-down, like the back alleys of the city. Modeling websites help a little, but however much guys might like rust on their trains and exhaust burns on their P-51, they're hardly all that interested in the collected grunge of modern-day gutters.
So, between acrylics and airbrush techniques, I need ways to make realistic water marks, rust stains, cracks, and mud splatter, and I haven't the foggiest on how to do that on a 'cement' base.
