Off to see Dad
Hi there folks, have been painting, but a bit busy to post stuff on the forum until now.
The picture you see here has been on the go for a while but is now finished and posted for your opinions, good or bad, everything is acceptable.
The two boys are brothers and took me quite a while to paint as I have not tackled the human form in as much detail as this before.
I must admit I found cars and planes easier, but, what do you all think?
Cheers, Ian Wildey.

Re: Off to see Dad
Awwww Ian - it has a very whimsical feel to it.
I do like it very much.
Possibly could have increased the shadows on the right of each child (taller boy's right face/ear getting lost) but it can certainly stand as finished
I like this change o subject too - do more!!

Re: Off to see Dad
Ian , I just love those wrinkly dungarees. The whole attitude of these little fellows is superbly painted. I think you have a gift for painting the human form and I would love to see more. Good advice from Maureen, re the shadows. Would give it more umphh but I think it is a simply delightful and charming work.

Re: Off to see Dad
I like all of this Ian down to the wee stones on the track and the farmer mending his no.8 wire fence.
The boys are great and I agree with Maureen's points too.

Re: Off to see Dad
This is a wonderful painting. Fun to see and wonder around it, although I did miss the fence mender. I agree with more shading and the left food on the red dungareed boy needs a bit of highlight or something. Feels a bit awkward IMHO.

Re: Off to see Dad
Thanks heaps
Maureen, Chammi, Judy, Patti, Purple, Margaret, and Pat for taking the time to give your well received comments. They are much appreciated and I promise to do better next time.
It does not look so bad as far as shading etc when you see it in the flesh, so to speak, the colours come up more vibrant as well.
Never mind, it was photographed on a dull day outside the studio, but having a look again your comments are all correct, so thank you again everyone.
It is nice to have like minded friends such as yourselves.
Cheers, Ian.

Re: Off to see Dad
The first thing I thought was that looks like Tuatapere... then dismissed it thinking how could it be from NZ, then I saw your flag!! Very familiar scene.
