Wurtulla Beach morning

Hello all

this is a long format painting - about 1200 x 300mm - this size suits waves!

I like the indistinct horizon and lumpy swells - I'd appreciate critiques

Chris

I like the way you handled the foam and foreground; very peaceful.

Re: Wurtulla Beach morning

The foreground vegitation is excellent, Chris, and the big wave and the light through it is exceptional. The ocean seems to lose its color very rapidly as the value appears the same behind the big wave as it is on the horizon. Makes it look like a foggy/hazey day. Maybe that is your intent. If not, I would add a bit more color just behind the big wave to help with a gradual feeling of depth. Sorry to critique such a lovely painting, but I think it could be even better with just a small addition.
Ron

Hi Chris, I really enjoy the foreground like everyone else. The foam feels a little less delicate with such strong shadows, but it does help to draw your eye to the wave.

Re: Wurtulla Beach morning

Thankyou for your thoughts on my painting.
Thanks Ron, my idea for the light coloured ocean is that it is very early morning and in the glassy conditions the sea colour is actually the sky reflected. The horizon is indistinct and blurred.
Thanks Marty, Carlos (translation anyone?), Mary and Brian, and Floating Dove

great looking waves and foam! framing foliage is quite effective.
