Wip #2

Some of you guys wanted to see some more of my work, so I'm going to take a dive and send some more pictures. C&C's Welcome

The tree trunks on this last one are too big, I was trying an effect but it didn't work out like planned

That's about all I have to send. I realize that my style is not steady yet, but for now, each painting is an adventure.

Hi Jumper, looking at your paintings I can see your not afraid to use strong colours which is nice. In painting one I like the colours but find it a little too busy..maybe the table was not really needed. In painting two the colours appeal more, they are more subdued and seem to work together more. Painting three is my favourite!...all of your paintings have something in them that I like..

Thank you Katie for your honesty... and tenderness (this is my first time showing my work). Only 2 people have seen these paintings. I want to know what people think because it will help me in the long run. I painted 3 pictures years ago. Now I've started again and I've only been painting for about 2 months (somewhere around there). I thank you so much for your opinions and comments.

I agree about the first painting. It's a bit much. I "was" a lot better until I wanted it to be more bright, lol. I also have a problem with paint. I use too much most of the time.

I love the way the colors blend in number two, but I believe that one is too busy as well. I'm going to alter it some and see if I can come up with something more pleasing.

It's funny that number 3 is the one you like the most. I've always thought it was one of my worst That one is my lady's favorite as well.

To All: I appreciate all comments. Good and Bad. Learning to think about my paintings as others look at them is a luxury I've never had.

Thank you Sean. I liked the bright colors too, but I think my problem was with the background being so dominant. I'm going to try another version of this with a more subdued background and see how it comes out.

Thanks for the comment.

I see #1,2,3 as having a happy vibe, from the color and playful lines.

The right two thirds of #4 seems to have a bear clawed look to it. Without the green on the left, I think #4 shows a lot of emotion. Chuck

Re: Wip #2

I like paintings 2 & 3 the most. They seem to reference a comic book style a bit, which I enjoy. And I like your comment about the dominant backgrounds. 2 & 3 have more neutral colour, which allows the bright colours to draw the eye more and creates a little "quiet" space in the composition.

Thank you for your comments, NeptunesHeat. I'm still trying to find myself where my art is concerned. I think there's a style there somewhere, but it needs some refining.

Since you are the first person to mention #4, I will tell you a bit about it. I painted the whole painting with a small rubber kitchen spatula
